\u201cI was a virgin,\u201d Courtney described. \u201cEmotionally still a child. And too young to understand what was about to happen to me behind closed doors for years.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cJust because a child says \u2018I do\u2019 does not mean she understands consent,\u201d Courtney reasoned.<\/p>\n
\u201cTomorrow,\u201d she continued, \u201cI\u2019m downsizing my breasts.\u201d<\/p>\n
This was not her first announcement on the topic.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd for the first time in my life,\u201d Courtney remarked, \u201cmy body feels like it belongs to me instead of the public that consumed it before I even became a woman.\u201d<\/p>\n
She affirmed: \u201cA child bride is not a love story. She was newly an adult, but had been a wife for a couple of years already.<\/p>\n
To be clear, she has shared that she is only going down by a size.<\/p>\n
Courtney has shared this to reassure \u2014 or, at least, to reason with \u2014 people having pity parties in her comments on social media.<\/p>\n
We want to emphasize that, like everyone else, Courtney has every right to do wit her body as she wishes. If she wanted to stop having breasts entirely, that would be solely her business. As it is, this will simply be a mild reduction.<\/p>\n
Courtney even shared a video<\/a> roasting some of the men who had the unfathomable gall to complain <\/em>about her plans to go under the knife.<\/p>\nMost of the time, her advocacy centers upon broad topics \u2014 from animal welfare to, of course, child marriage.<\/p>\n
Only a dozen or so US states have taken the step to actually outlaw child marriage. Attempts to ban it are sometimes thwarted by conservative legislators, some of whom argue that keeping child marriage as a legal loophole is preferable to the alternatives \u2014 like abortion or child single parents if an adult impregnates them.<\/p>\n
No, child marriage is not the preferable alternative. Voters need to oust politicians who fight to keep child marriage enshrined in lawbooks.<\/p>\n
Right now, however, Courtney is advocating for herself. We wish her a smooth and healthy recovery.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
