The show premiered in 2021 and instantly hooked viewers with its bizarre plot about the missing politician\u2019s daughter, whose kidnapper might also be linked to the murder of a family in the 1980s.<\/p>\n<p>Season 2, <em>Hide and Seek<\/em>, tells a different story but keeps the same two leads, bickering detective duo Mark Hess (<strong>Mikkel Boe F\u00f8lsgaard<\/strong>) and Naia Thulin (<strong>Danica \u0106ur\u010di\u0107)<\/strong>. They need to figure out who kidnapped and murdered a 41-year-old woman and how it\u2019s linked to \u2014 you guessed it \u2014 another murder that occurred in the past. <em>The Chestnut Man<\/em> sticks to its formula of overly complicated mysteries spanning different periods, but if it worked the first time, why change it in season 2? LAPD veteran Isaiah Stiles (<strong>Matthew Law<\/strong>) is good at his job \u2014 a little too good, according to his wife, Candace (<strong>Gabrielle Dennis<\/strong>). She\u2019s upset he\u2019s obsessed with taking down crime kingpin Coltrane Wilder (<strong>Y\u2019lan Noel<\/strong>), who Isaiah believes is behind a series of heists throughout the city. Because Isaiah is driven by past tragedy, he\u2019s unyielding in his determination to get his man \u2014 even if he has to sacrifice everything he cares about.<\/p>\n<p>Co-created by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/entertainment\/tv\/2026\/05\/15\/nemesis-netflix-stars\/90094002007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Power<\/em> mastermind <strong>Courtney A. Kemp<\/strong>, <em>Nemesis<\/em><\/a> shows a similar care for intricate worldbuilding and thoughtful character development that made that Starz series such a success. <em>Nemesis<\/em> has a fascinating crime narrative, but its best feature is how it portrays its lead characters. Isaiah isn\u2019t as perfect as he\u2019d like to be, and Coltrane isn\u2019t the bad guy his nemesis thinks he is. But the two wayward, middle-class adults certainly uncover Yusuf\u2019s dangerous background when he kidnaps both of them and threatens them at gunpoint, blackmailing them into carrying out illicit errands as penance for Morgan\u2019s act of petty theft. Thus, Morgan\u2019s minor criminal act turns into the siblings committing a series of major ones, as the two white-bread suburbanites are thrust into the world of organized crime.<\/p>\n<p><em>Big Mistakes<\/em> marks Levy\u2019s return to scripted TV following the conclusion of<em>\u00a0<\/em>the hit Canadian sitcom\u00a0<em>Schitt\u2019s Creek,\u00a0<\/em>and while both feature similar fish-out-of-water premises,\u00a0<em>Big Mistakes\u00a0<\/em>is an entirely different wheelhouse. The series is totally binge-worthy with an addictive narrative that plays out across the eight-episode arc, with humor that really hits, family drama that\u2019s affecting and an extremely compelling crime narrative. However, her interest in pursuing female assassins leads her to join an underground MI6 division dedicated to tracking Villanelle (<strong>Jodie Comer<\/strong>): a psychopathic international assassin who consistently evades capture. But when Eve and Villanelle eventually encounter one another, they find themselves locked in a game of cat-and-mouse that draws both women closer to one another in unexpected ways.<\/p>\n<p><em>Killing Eve<\/em> does an excellent job at subverting tropes of spy thrillers and hinging on truly electric chemistry between Comer and Oh. Oh is thrilling in her role portraying the unconventional and messy Eve, while Comer is an utterly magnetic \u201cfemme fatale\u201d type of villainous psychopath. In the aftermath of both Veronica and her father (<strong>Enrico Colantoni<\/strong>) being ousted by their community, they open up their own private investigation agency, where Veronica works part-time solving crimes around town.<\/p>\n<p>Though <em>Veronica Mars<\/em> only lasted for a criminally short three seasons, the series has endured as a cult hit with a passionate fanbase. The show boasts a smart blend of teen drama and crime noir, and Bell commands the show with her magnetic breakout performance. Veronica is a strong female character given rich character development, but the supporting characters are terrific too, creating a show with textured, dense world-building. Suddenly, all their skeletons are threatened to be revealed.<\/p>\n<p>This German espionage thriller has proven to be a surprise hit for Netflix, having only recently debuted and already becoming one of the streamer\u2019s most popular shows. Viewers can\u2019t get enough of <em>Unfamiliar\u2019s<\/em> riveting twists and turns while also being a smartly written narrative with high-stakes drama, complex, nuanced characters and an emotional grounding that frees it from some of the familiar tropes of spy stories. Finding herself suddenly reinvigorated in her career, Anna travels to Dahlonega to investigate, where she is forced to contend with her estranged husband, Jack Harper (<strong>Jon Bernthal<\/strong>), who just happens to be assigned to the case. Having been drawn to the killing partly out of curiosity, partly because of loose ends left from her past, Anna searches for the truth while repeatedly butting heads with Jack, who is increasingly suspicious of Anna\u2019s true motives.<\/p>\n<p>This gripping, fast-paced murder-mystery wouldn\u2019t be quite what it is without two compelling performances from Bernthal and Thompson, who really inject some complex character nuance and emotional tension into an already bingeable narrative. After catching a serial killer named Joe Carroll (<strong>James Purefoy<\/strong>), Ryan left his job behind and even briefly romanced Carroll\u2019s ex-wife, Claire Matthews (<strong>Natalie Zea<\/strong>). The only thing that could bring Ryan out of retirement is the escape of Joe Carroll.<\/p>\n<p>In his time behind bars, Joe has amassed a large following of devoted maniacs who are willing to kill for him and die for him if necessary. This angers Lou at first, but it turns out that she and her brother make a great team. Ostracized by his other colleagues, Malart is subsequently paired up with Deputy Inspector Rebeca Garrido (<strong>Ver\u00f3nica Echegui<\/strong>) to investigate. Ultimately, the single grisly murder ends up being one of a string of ritualistic killings that take place atop historic landmarks in Barcelona. Will Malart be able to find redemption and catch the killer?<\/p>\n<p><em>City of Shadows<\/em> prioritizes pacing and atmosphere over shock and gore, and while there are still some twists and turns to look forward to, the show is more interested in showcasing solid storytelling and the fantastic chemistry between its two leads.
