The 36-year-old actress had a long Zoom meeting with Boots Riley, the director of her new movie I Love Boosters, before landing her role, and Eiza has now shared details of that conversation, admitting that it caused her to look at things in a slightly different light.<\/p>\n
Eiza – who was born and raised in Mexico City, before making a name for herself in the American film industry – told The Hollywood Reporter: “I remember hanging up and being like, \u2018I need to be a better citizen’.<\/p>\n
“As a Mexican woman, if I\u2019m driving in my car or something, there are privileges that I don\u2019t have, and I have to be hypervigilant \u2014 but I also have what most people don\u2019t, which is the ability to speak up about it.”<\/p>\n
Eiza stars alongside the likes of Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Will Poulter, Don Cheadle, and Demi Moore in I Love Boosters, and she’s described the Atlanta production as a “sisterhood” as it features numerous women of colour.<\/p>\n
\nThe actress explained: “It was like looking in a mirror.<\/p>\n
\n“It was so interesting to see how everyone relates to the more difficult parts of this business differently.”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Eiza previously revealed that she’s actually feeling better about herself than she did in her 20s.<\/p>\n
\nThe movie star suggested that she’s become more comfortable in her own skin in recent years.<\/p>\n
\nThe brunette beauty – who has also released two albums, Contracorriente and Te Acordar\u00e1s de M\u00ed, in 2009 and 2012, respectively – told InStyle: “Shockingly, I like myself so much more physically right now than I did in my twenties. And a part of it, obviously, is maturing and accepting yourself and doing all the hard work, but I also think I look better. <\/p>\n
\n“I actually think I’m ageing into my looks in a way that I personally like.”<\/p>\n
