Mindy Kaling has found a healthy balance<\/p>\n
The 46-year-old star has enjoyed a hugely successful career as a writer and as an actress – but according to Ike Barinholtz, Mindy’s co-creator of Running Point, she’s found a healthier work-life balance in recent years.<\/p>\n
Ike told Bustle: “She\u2019s really gone from someone who was, I would say, almost a workaholic type A to having a pretty good balance now.”<\/p>\n
Running Point tells the story of a reformed party girl who is left to run her family’s pro basketball team. Mindy – who has kids Kit, eight, Spencer, five, and Anne, two – feels passionate about the show, but she’s also able to switch off at the end of the working day.<\/p>\n
Ike said: “We get to the writers\u2019 room, and we always have 15 minutes of gossip and talking about shows we watched and showing funny clips of stuff online, but then we really lock in. And she\u2019s able to, at four or five o\u2019clock, be like, \u2018OK, I\u2019m going to make dinner for my kids.\u2019 <\/p>\n
\n“Watching her balance all this stuff \u2014 multiple shows and movies and kids and friendships \u2014 she never ceases to not impress me.”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Mindy previously admitted that she feels most comfortable writing about “strivers and dorks”.<\/p>\n
\nThe Hollywood star is a huge fan of the hit TV drama series Euphoria – which stars the likes of Zendaya, Jacob Elordi and Sydney Sweeney – but Mindy doubts she could write a similar type of TV show.<\/p>\n
\nMindy told The Hollywood Reporter: “I love Euphoria and I think [creator] Sam [Levinson] is like a genius. I think he has a lot to say about things like sex and drug use and addiction and those are incredibly interesting, but we don\u2019t have a ton of experience in that.<\/p>\n
\n“I watch that show on the edge of my seat, vicariously, but I feel like nerds lusting over guys is more what we feel comfortable writing about so that\u2019s why we do this. We write about strivers and dorks and people who are underestimated.”<\/p>\n
