The Harry Potter<\/em> series<\/a> will be recasting Gracie Cochrane<\/strong>\u2019s role of Ginny Weasley ahead of season 2.<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to unforeseen circumstances Gracie has made the challenging decision to step away from her role as Ginny Weasley in the HBO Harry Potter series after season one,\u201d Cochrane and her family said in a joint statement provided to multiple outlets on Monday, May 18.<\/p>\n

The statement continued, \u201cHer time as part of the Harry Potter world has been truly wonderful, and she is deeply grateful to Lucy Bevan and the entire production team for creating such an unforgettable experience. Gracie is very excited about the opportunities her future holds.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a separate statement, a spokesperson for HBO told outlets, \u201cWe support Gracie Cochrane and her family\u2019s decision not to return for the next season of HBO\u2019s Harry Potter series, and we are grateful for her work on season one of the show. We wish Gracie and her family the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cochrane appeared as Ginny in season 1 of the series, which is set to premiere in December 2026 on HBO. The series is set to star Dominic McLaughlin<\/strong> as Harry Potter<\/a>, Arabella Stanton<\/strong> as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout<\/strong> as Ron Weasley.<\/p>\n
