King Charles<\/a> was “greatly shocked” by the news a soldier has died after falling from his horse during the Royal Windsor Horse Show.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
King Charles is saddened by the death of a soldier<\/p>\n
The unnamed man – who was part of the King\u2019s Troop Royal Horse Artillery – fell at around 7pm on Friday (15.05.26) after exiting the arena, and though he was given immediate medical treatment, he sustained serious injuried and died at the scene.<\/p>\n
The king, who was in atttendance at the show with the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, planned to contact the soldier’s family to share his “personal condolences”.<\/p>\n
A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: \u201cWhile His Majesty and other members of the Royal family were present at the arena at the time the incident took place, they were not made aware of the severity of the situation until later.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe King was greatly shocked and saddened to have learned subsequently of the Troop member\u2019s death, and will be in touch with the family to share his personal condolences.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe thoughts and most heartfelt sympathies of the whole Royal family are with the victim\u2019s loved ones and military colleagues at this time of grief.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAn appeal for information as to the events surrounding the soldier’s fall has been issued.<\/p>\n
\nCh Supt Michael Loebenberg said: \u201cWe are appealing for anyone with information or material relating to the sad death of a military rider at Royal Windsor Horse Show yesterday to please get in touch.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cOur thoughts are with the soldier\u2019s family and the wider community in the military and at the Royal Windsor Horse Show at this extremely difficult time.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAt this stage, we have not found any suspicious circumstances.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe are working with the Ministry of Defence, the Defence Accident Investigation Branch and Royal Windsor Horse Show organisers HPower to gather as much information as possible to understand how this happened.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe show continued as normal on Saturday (16.05.26), but without the deceased man’s troop.<\/p>\n
\nJo Peck, the event director at HPower, said: \u201cOur thoughts and sympathies are with the family of the soldier who sadly died yesterday.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe Royal Windsor Horse Show will continue today as per the published timetable, with the omission of the King\u2019s Troop Royal Horse Artillery display.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAn Army spokesman confirmed the death.<\/p>\n
\nThe representative said: \u201cIt is with deep regret that we announce a member of the King\u2019s Troop Royal Horse Artillery died on Friday May 15, following a tragic incident at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe family has been notified, and our thoughts are with them at this sad and difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n
