Kim Kardashian<\/strong><\/a> reportedly posted bail for a former death row inmate who was released from prison pending a retrial over a 1997 killing.<\/p>\n

Richard Glossip<\/strong>, 63, was released from incarceration in Oklahoma on Thursday, May 14, after nearly 30 years on death row for first-degree murder, the Associated Press<\/em><\/a> reported.<\/p>\n

Glossip narrowly escaped execution over the decades, per the report. He was slated for execution on nine different dates and was served a last meal on at least three occasions.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Supreme Court vacated the conviction in February 2025 and he is set to be retried for murder. Prosecutors allege that Glossip ordered the murder of his former boss, motel owner Barry Van Treese<\/strong>, who was beaten to death in January 1997. Glossip has maintained his innocence and his case has received support from the likes of Kardashian and actress Susan Sarandon<\/strong> over the years.<\/p>\n

Judge Natalie Mai<\/strong> set Glossip\u2019s bond at $500,000, which was posted Thursday by Kardashian, 45, according to film producer Scott Budnick<\/strong>, a longtime advocate for Glossip\u2019s release.<\/p>\n

In an Instagram<\/a> post on Thursday, Budnick said Glossip was \u201creleased on bail that was GRACIOUSLY paid for immediately by @kimkardashian who\u2019s been fighting for Rich\u2019s freedom for years.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the Associated Press<\/em>, Glossip was released on the conditions that he must wear an electronic monitoring device, must not travel outside of Oklahoma, must not have any contact with witnesses in his case, and must not consume drugs or alcohol.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just thankful for my wife and my attorneys. Just thankful. It\u2019s overwhelming, but it\u2019s amazing at the same time,\u201d Glossip said Thursday upon leaving prison holding hands with his wife, Lea Glossip<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Glossip\u2019s conviction and death sentence were overturned in February 2025 after the Supreme Court ruled that prosecutors in his initial 1998 trial allowed a witness to give evidence that they knew to be false, violating Glossip\u2019s right to a fair trial.<\/p>\n
