Phillips\u2019 email didn\u2019t indicate the number of jobs that would be cut at Waze, which has more than 500 staffers, according to CNBC. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">Waze confirmed the layoffs in a statement to <em>The Verge<\/em>. \u201cGoogle remains deeply committed to growing Waze\u2019s unique brand, its beloved app and its thriving community of volunteers and users,\u201d Caroline Bourdeau, Waze\u2019s head of PR, said in the statement. \u201cIn order to create a better, more seamless long term experience for Waze advertisers, we\u2019ve begun transitioning Waze\u2019s existing advertising system to Google Ads technology.
