Cher<\/a>\u2019s attempts to establish a conservatorship over Elijah following a series of arrests and reported mental health concerns earlier this year.<\/p>\n\nElijah stated in the filing he \u201creceives only $10,000 per month from his father’s trust\u201d and no longer benefits from \u201crecurring gift income\u201d from Cher.<\/p>\n
\nAccording to the filing, Elijah\u2019s monthly income after taxes now amounts to $6,790.<\/p>\n
\nCourt documents state Elijah is currently required to pay Marieangela $6,500 each month in spousal support following the couple\u2019s separation in 2021. However, his lawyers are now asking the court to reduce the payments to $1,651 per month.<\/p>\n
\nElijah also claimed in the filing Marieangela \u201cmade no efforts to become self-supporting\u201d after the relationship broke down.<\/p>\n
\nThe pair married in 2013 after a turbulent on-off relationship that repeatedly attracted tabloid attention due to public disputes and concerns over Elijah\u2019s wellbeing. <\/p>\n
\nElijah initially filed for divorce in 2021 before later attempting to dismiss the proceedings in January 2024. <\/p>\n
\nA judge approved the dismissal the following month. <\/p>\n
\nMarieangela then filed for divorce herself in April 2025.<\/p>\n
\nThe legal dispute unfolds alongside Cher\u2019s continuing attempts to intervene in her son\u2019s financial and personal affairs. <\/p>\n
\nLast month, the Believe singer filed another conservatorship request citing what court filings described as severe addiction and mental health issues. <\/p>\n
\nThe latest filing followed an earlier attempt in December 2023, when Cher requested temporary conservatorship over Elijah\u2019s estate and sought to act as sole conservator herself.<\/p>\n
\nIn the newest petition, however, Cher instead requested that fiduciary Jason Rubin oversee the conservatorship.<\/p>\n
\nThe request was denied without prejudice on April 24, meaning Cher retains the right to refile.<\/p>\n
\nDuring the hearing, Elijah reportedly appeared remotely from a psychiatric hospital where he is currently being held \u201cin an attempt to restore him to competency\u201d while facing criminal charges linked to two separate cases in New Hampshire.<\/p>\n
\nCher\u2019s attorney Justin Gold argued in court filings that Elijah\u2019s condition had deteriorated significantly since the previous conservatorship proceedings.<\/p>\n
