He was often credited with launching the J-horror boom in the west.<\/p>\n<p>He is most known for writing the novel &#8216;Ring&#8217; which was adapted into the Japanese film of the same name (also known as &#8216;Ringu&#8217;) and later remade as &#8216;The Ring&#8217; in America.
