Goldie Hawn<\/strong><\/a> addressed her Death Becomes Her<\/em><\/a> costar Meryl Streep<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s revelation that they had \u201cbeef\u201d<\/a> on set due to Hawn\u2019s frequent tardiness.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I\u2019m 15 minutes late to everything. \u2026 I mean, honestly, it\u2019s unbelievable,\u201d Hawn, 80, admitted to Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> on Wednesday, May 6. \u201cBut, I think we got through that. I mean, we\u2019ve been such great friends for so long. But it is our joke.\u201d<\/p>\n

Streep, 76, recently looked back on the experience of filming director Robert Zemeckis<\/strong>\u2019 1992 cult classic, where she and Hawn played aging Hollywood actresses who take a magic potion to restore their youth. The three-time Oscar winner admitted to Vanity Fair<\/em><\/a> that she and Hawn had two very different approaches to working on Death Becomes Her<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cGoldie, she was always late to set,\u201d Streep recalled on Thursday, April 30. \u201cBut she was so adorable. And I\u2019m always on time, you know, and annoying. But she\u2019s late, and she had a red convertible, I remember, and she\u2019d drive herself to set. So that was probably the problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Devil Wears Prada 2<\/em><\/a> star went on, \u201cShe\u2019d drive herself to set. She had her hair all \u2026 \u2018Oh, gosh, sorry!\u2019 And everybody thought, \u2018Oh, she\u2019s so cute.\u2019 Yeah. So I had a beef with her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Streep eventually clarified that she and Hawn got past any \u201cbeef\u201d long ago and now both look back fondly on Death Becomes Her<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI loved her. I love her,\u201d Streep said of Hawn. \u201cShe\u2019s one of my buddies, and over the years, we\u2019ve had some laughs about that movie because people love it. I thought it was like a documentary on Beverly Hills.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to ET<\/em> on Wednesday, Hawn jokingly flipped the script by questioning whether Streep was simply \u201ctoo early\u201d on set.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, she said I was too late on the set. Maybe she\u2019s too early, I don\u2019t know,\u201d she pointed out on Wednesday. \u201cYou know, sometimes when you\u2019re too early, you\u2019re still waiting for somebody and you think, \u2018Oh god, where the hell is she?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Death Becomes Her<\/em> was a financial success at the time but sharply divided critics. Over the years, the dark comedy has developed a cult following and even spawned a Broadway musical adaptation in 2024 that received 10 Tony Award nominations.<\/p>\n

Zemeckis also pioneered computer-generated visual effects for Death Becomes Her<\/em>\u2019s gruesome scenes showcasing the grim physical side effects of Hollywood starlets Madeline Ashton (Streep) and Helen Sharp\u2019s (Hawn) anti-aging potion. The movie won a Best Visual Effects Award at the 65th Academy Awards in March 1993.<\/p>\n
