Speaking at the European premiere of the film, Anne discussed the evolution of both her character and her own perspective on the role, as well as the creative decisions behind the film\u2019s fashion.<\/p>\n
Reflecting on one specific costume, Anne said: \u201cI don’t know, it was a garment, more than anything else.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cBut I loved it so much.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nBut the actress explained the piece \u2013 a Phoebe Philo design \u2013 did not make the final edit. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cAnd then I said that it was my favourite outfit in the film, and (director) David called me \u2013 I hadn\u2019t seen the film yet \u2013 and he\u2019s like, \u2018It\u2019s gone\u2019.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018Well, maybe it was good that the paparazzi were there (on set to photograph it.)\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe look, photographed during filming in New York in July 2025, featured a white T-shirt with a flowing train, paired with cropped trousers and accessories that reflected the film\u2019s continued emphasis on high fashion \u2013 a hallmark of the original film, which became synonymous with its costume design under Patricia Field. <\/p>\n
\nPatricia previously told Entertainment Weekly: \u201cFor me, the success of the clothing is not only that it looks good, but it has to tell the story.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAnne also addressed the development of her Andy character since the first Devil Wears Prada film from 2006. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cOh, I think we’re both more confident, you know.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nAnne continued: \u201cI think that, 20 years ago, Andy Sachs was really worried about getting it right, and she really wanted to please her boss, and now I think that she wants to be herself, and I relate to that.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe sequel arrives amid renewed interest in the original film, which remains a defining entry in Anne\u2019s career alongside roles in Les Mis\u00e9rables and The Idea of You.<\/p>\n
\nDuring the press tour for the sequel, Anne revisited one of Andy\u2019s most recognisable looks \u2013 a green coat with cheetah-print trim \u2013 also wearing it during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.<\/p>\n
\nHer stylist, Erin Walsh, said of the decision: \u201cAnnie wanted to wrap the tour up with this nod to the film.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cSince it was the last moment of the tour, it felt like such a special piece.\u201d<\/p>\n
