Donald Trump<\/strong><\/a> is addressing his dance moves.<\/p>\n

During a rally on Friday (May 1) in Sumterville, Fla., the 79-year-old President talked dancing to the Village People<\/strong>‘s 1978 mega-hit song “Y.M.C.A.”, which he referred to as the”gay national anthem,” and said that wife Melania Trump<\/strong><\/a> “hates” his dancing.<\/p>\n

“She hates when I dance to what’s sometimes referred to as the gay national anthem, you know,” he said<\/a>. “She hates it.”<\/p>\n

Over the years, Trump<\/strong> has gone viral for his fist-pumping dance moves, which do not resemble the typical alphabetical gestures that usually go with the “Y.M.C.A.”<\/p>\n

“We love that song,” he continued. “But she goes, ‘Darling, please.’ You know, she’s a very elegant woman. She goes, ‘Darling, please, don’t dance. It’s not presidential.’”<\/p>\n

In response to Melania<\/strong>‘s criticism, Trump<\/strong> told her, “I said, ‘It may not be presidential, but I’m leading by 20 points in the polls.’”<\/p>\n

He went on to brag that his bid for president impacted the song’s chart performance decades after it was first released.<\/p>\n

“You know, that song was No. 5 32 years ago, and it went to No. 1 32 years later,” Trump<\/strong> claimed. “There’s never been anything like it. It never hit No. 1. It was No. 5 32 years ago, and it went to No. 1 for months during the last months of the campaign.”<\/p>\n

However, Trump<\/strong>‘s chart numbers and dates aren’t correct. While the “Y.M.C.A.” did experience renewed popularity as he used the song throughout his 2024 presidential campaign, but his numbers and dates are wrong.<\/p>\n

“Y.M.C.A.” was released in October 1978 \u2014 48 years ago, not 32 \u2014 and peaked at No. 2 \u2014 not No. 5 \u2014 on the Billboard<\/em> Hot 100 chart in February 1979. When the song found its new popularity in 2024, it did hit No. 1, but on the Billboard<\/a><\/em> Dance Digital Song Sales chart, not the Billboard<\/em> Hot 100.<\/p>\n
