NBC host Sara Gore<\/strong> is taking a step back from her Open House<\/em> and New York Live<\/em> hosting gigs after receiving a breast cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn announcement from Sara Gore,\u201d the official New York Live<\/em> Instagram account captioned a video<\/a> on Thursday, April 30. \u201cOur New York Live<\/em> family is sending her all of our love.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gore, 49, was emotional as she started to share something \u201ca little more personal\u201d with viewers in the clip.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and I\u2019m going to be stepping away for treatment and surgery,\u201d Gore explained. \u201cIf I didn\u2019t say that I was a little bit scared, I\u2019d be lying \u2014 and caught off guard, quite frankly, because I watched my mother and my sister go through this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gore said she \u201calways knew\u201d that she was \u201chigh risk\u201d for breast cancer because of her family history.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always assumed this day would come,\u201d she continued. \u201cBut let me tell you, you\u2019re never ready. You\u2019re just never ready, for some reason, even when you catch it early because you\u2019re doing everything right.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gore held back tears as she added, \u201cIt is an emotional blow and I wasn\u2019t ready for that. That actually really surprised me. It really stung.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMany celebrities have spoken out about their personal battles with breast cancer over the years. Julia Louis-Dreyfus went public with her breast cancer diagnosis in September 2017 via Instagram. Nearly one year later, she had successfully beaten the illness and returned to work on Veep. \u201cIt sounds kind of corny, but there\u2019s something about after [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Gore assured viewers that she is \u201cexactly\u201d where she needs to be and is \u201csurrounded by incredible doctors and people who are taking such good care of me\u201d both at home and work.<\/p>\n

Gore has been a part of the NBC family for 20 years, hosting Open House<\/em> for 18 years and New York Live<\/em> for 16 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel very supported and as hard as this is, I\u2019m choosing to believe \u2014 at least for me, in this moment in time \u2014 that maybe there is a gift in this even if I don\u2019t fully understand what it is yet,\u201d Gore added. \u201cI\u2019m working on that part.\u201d<\/p>\n

She concluded, \u201cIf anything, it\u2019s already a reminder of how precious life is and how important it is to focus on what really matters \u2026 I\u2019m going to come back better than ever, and I\u2019m going to see you on the other side of this.\u201d<\/p>\n
