Prince Harry<\/strong><\/a> and Meghan Markle<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s recent trip to Australia<\/a> has become the latest \u2018setback\u2019 in his already estranged relationship with his brother<\/a>, Prince William<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

And the younger royal\u2019s recent remarks abroad have fueled tensions in an already fragile situation between the brothers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018I don\u2019t want this job. I don\u2019t want this role \u2014 wherever this is headed, I don\u2019t like it,\u2019\u201d Harry, 41, revealed during a post-speech conversation at the InterEdge Summit on April 16.<\/p>\n

The Duke of Sussex was referring to his former role as a senior working royal, something he said he had no interest in following the 1997 tragic death of his mom, Princess Diana<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPrince William and Prince Harry grew up side by side, playing on the manicured grounds of Kensington Palace as children and later attending the prestigious Eton College before they both went off to serve in the armed forces. In 2020, their paths famously and dramatically diverged when Harry left his royal post for the luxe [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The surprising sentiment from the Duke of Sussex comes in sharp contrast to his estranged brother William\u2019s dutiful approach to his royal destiny \u2014 and points to the ever-widening distance between the pair. And, according to a source, Harry\u2019s recent comment has made any chance of a reconciliation<\/a> between the siblings far less likely to happen any time soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a quasi royal vibe with these trips and it\u2019s confusing,\u201d a source tells Us Weekly<\/em> exclusively. \u201cIt seems they are trading on old connections in a way that shouldn\u2019t be acceptable because they are no longer working members of the royal family.<\/p>\n

The source continues, \u201cThere is frustration over the royal tours they are doing. Every single time William and Kate [Middleton]<\/strong><\/a> think they have turned a corner with them, something else pops up. It\u2019s taking steps forward then steps back. Their media omnipresence is something that has created continued strain. It\u2019s been a barrier to repair the relationship. Just when the flames of controversy die down they have an uncanny ability to start another one.\u201d<\/p>\n

The insider added that things \u201cremain distant\u201d between William, 43, and his brother despite the fact that Harry has started to repair his complicated relationship<\/a> with King Charles III<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere hasn\u2019t been any communication,\u201d the same source tells Us of the brothers. \u201cThey will eventually figure it out, but there is still distance there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Us<\/em> has reached out to a representative for Harry and Kensington Palace for comment.<\/p>\n

Harry met up with dad Charles<\/a> in September 2025 for the first time in two years, giving royal watchers hope that the brothers would reconcile as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust when they [Prince William and Princess Kate] think there is progress there is something that pushes them back a couple steps and they haven\u2019t had time to move forward,\u201d the source adds, noting that William has \u201cfirm boundaries\u201d and is \u201cnot pushing for a reunion\u201d with his brother just yet.<\/p>\n
