George Clooney doesn’t watch his own movies<\/p>\n
The 64-year-old actor – who has starred in a host of high-profile movies, including From Dusk Till Dawn, Michael Clayton, Burn After Reading, Fantastic Mr. Fox and Gravity – has enjoyed huge success in Hollywood, but George rarely watches himself on screen.<\/p>\n
George – who married his wife Amal in 2014 – told People: “It’s a weird thing. As you get older, it’s hard to watch movies when you were younger because you’re like, ‘Holy s***, that doesn’t even look like me anymore.'”<\/p>\n
George said the exception was Fantastic Mr. Fox, which he recently watched with his eight-year-old twins Alexander and Ella.<\/p>\n
George said: “I was watching Fantastic Mr. Fox, which is a little easier because it’s not really me, it’s just my voice. That’s kind of fun because the kids are slowly figuring out what I do for a living, you know? But the rest of it … Listen, it’s hard because I tend to not want to look back, but now that I’m gonna be 65 in a week, looking forward’s a lot shorter view, you know what I mean? So maybe I’ll look back later, you know.”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, in December, George claimed to have “rediscovered” his love of acting.<\/p>\n
\nThe veteran actor has emerged from an unsatisfying spell in his career, having taken on some relatively easy film roles.<\/p>\n
\nHe told Variety: “I got my groove back as an actor.<\/p>\n
\n“I rediscovered why I love this profession. It\u2019s not that I wasn\u2019t challenging myself on my last few films, but I knew how to play those parts.”<\/p>\n
\nBy contrast, George relished the challenge of playing a movie star past his matinee idol prime in Jay Kelly.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “With this one, I felt like I did when I started acting and was trying to figure it out. You\u2019re thinking, \u2018Am I a fraud? Am I going to be found out?\u2019 It\u2019s a really good place to be, to feel off your game.”<\/p>\n
\nGeorge initially felt that Noah Baumbach, who co-wrote and directed the film, had misjudged him. But ultimately, George relished starring in the new movie.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “I read the script, and there was a part of me that went, \u2018Does he think this is who I am?\u2019<\/p>\n
\n“Because I knew Noah a little bit, and this character\u2019s deeply unhappy and kind of a jerk. But then I thought it might be fun to play someone who thinks he\u2019s a good guy, but everything he touches, he destroys.”<\/p>\n
