Charity Lawson<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s biggest supporters heading into her season of The Bachelorette<\/em><\/a> are her loving family.<\/p>\n Bachelor Nation<\/a> fans met the season 20 Bachelorette, 27, on Zach Shallcross<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 season of The Bachelor<\/em><\/a>, where she scored a coveted Hometown as a part of the California native\u2019s final four alongside Gabi Elnicki<\/strong><\/a>, Ariel Frenkel<\/strong><\/a> and Kaity Biggar<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n Upon traveling to her hometown of Columbus, Georgia, Charity introduced Zach, 26, to her parents, David<\/strong> and Vickie Lawson<\/strong>, her older brothers, David Jr.<\/strong> and Nehemiah Lawson<\/strong>, and several of her extended family and friends. (Charity\u2019s older sister, Amiyaka Lawson<\/strong>, was not present for the Hometown date.)<\/p>\n Ahead of Zach and Charity\u2019s arrival at the family gathering<\/a>, Nehemiah noted that while they all want Charity to find her \u201chappily ever after,\u201d they also have to think about the possibility that \u201cZach doesn\u2019t choose her\u201d and whether she\u2019s ready to \u201cdeal with all of that.\u201d<\/p>\n Charity\u2019s father, for his part, noted on the March 2023 episode that the pair looked \u201cbeautiful together\u201d before pulling his daughter away for a talk about her potential future with Zach. \u201cThis could be something serious<\/a> and something for real,\u201d the child and family therapist told her dad. \u201cTo have you and Mom be, like, my role models \u2014 you guys have been my hope of what I envision and what I want.\u201d<\/p>\n While her brothers warned her to be cautious of Zach\u2019s relationships with the other women, Charity\u2019s mother helped her realize she wanted to tell Zach she was falling in love with him. \u201cTo express it and to be able to say those words is very important,\u201d Vickie said during the episode.<\/p>\n Though the Hometown date seemingly went off with a hitch, Charity was ultimately sent home by the Bachelor<\/a> at the end of the week. She went on to call her time on the show \u201cthe experience of a lifetime\u201d via an Instagram<\/a> post, adding, \u201cI was challenged and pushed to a level of vulnerability that I didn\u2019t know was possible for myself. Through the highs and lows, I grew as a person through it all and was able to discover depths of myself, and that is the true victory.\u201d<\/p>\n Charity also thanked Zach \u2014 who went on to propose to Kaity<\/a>, 27 \u2014 for \u201callowing me to be apart [sic] of your journey.\u201d She continued: \u201cYou provided a constant safe space showing grace, compassion, and always allowed me to share parts of myself that were hidden. I wish you nothing but the best as your journey continues!\u201d<\/p>\n That same month, Charity was announced as the next Bachelorette<\/a> \u2014 and she couldn\u2019t wait to let her family know.<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t wait to show little girls that look like me that being in a position like this is possible,\u201d she said after calling her parents to tell them the big news. \u201cI know that I\u2019ll be making a lot of people proud.\u201d<\/p>\n Fans will see more of Charity\u2019s family on the season 20 premiere of The Bachelorette<\/em> as Nehemiah will go undercover<\/a> among her contestants at the Bachelor Mansion to scope out who is there for the right reasons.<\/p>\n \u201cI have a plan. It involves a disguise.
