Talley Ross performed alongside lead singer\u00a0Ronnie Spector and Estelle Bennett, her cousins, forming a trio whose sound and image became a defining force in pop music.<\/p>\n
The Ronettes\u2019 official Facebook page shared the news on Sunday (26.04.26), writing: \u201cIt is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Nedra Talley Ross\u2019 passing. She was a light to those who knew and loved her.\u201d<\/p>\n
The tribute continued: \u201cAs a founding member of The Ronettes, along with her beloved cousins Ronnie and Estelle, Nedra\u2019s voice, style and spirit helped define a sound that would change music. Her contribution to the group\u2019s story and their defining influence will live forever.\u201d<\/p>\n
The message closed with: \u201cRest peacefully dear Nedra. Thanks for the magic.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHer daughter, Nedra K. Ross, also confirmed the news in a Facebook post, writing: \u201cAt approximately 8:30 this morning our mother Nedra Talley Ross went home to be with the Lord. She was safe in her own bed at home with her family close, knowing she was loved.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nA cause of death has not been disclosed.<\/p>\n
\nTalley Ross was part of the group\u2019s rise after signing with Phil Spector\u2019s Philles Records in 1963, contributing to a run of era\u2011defining singles including Be My Baby (1963) and Baby, I Love You (1964).<\/p>\n
\nTheir influence extended far beyond their chart success, shaping the sound, style and attitude of generations of artists who followed. Be My Baby was later inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.<\/p>\n
\nThe Ronettes disbanded in 1967, but their legacy endured as one of the most influential vocal groups of the decade.<\/p>\n
\nEstelle Bennett died in 2009 at 67, and Ronnie Spector passed away in 2022 at 78, leaving Talley Ross as the group\u2019s final surviving member until her death.<\/p>\n
\nTheir legacy lives on as Zendaya is to portray Spector in the A24 biopic Be My Baby.<\/p>\n
\nFollowing her death, the Greatest Showman actress paid her a special tribute.<\/p>\n
\nShe penned on Instagram at the time: \u201cThis news just breaks my heart. To speak about her as if she\u2019s not with us feels strange as she is so incredibly full of life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThere\u2019s not a time I saw her without her iconic red lips and full teased hair, a true rockstar through and through.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cRonnie, being able to know you has been one of the greatest honors of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe concluded: \u201cThank you for sharing your life with me, I could listen to your stories for hours and hours. Thank you for your unmeasured talent, your unwavering love for performing, your strength, resilience and your grace.\u201d<\/p>\n
