Teri Hatcher wishes she’d worked on Broadway<\/p>\n
The 61-year-old actress – who has 20-year-old daughter Emerson with ex-husband Jon Tenney – had been touring the US in a production of Cabaret in the late 1990s but decided against retaining the role of Sally Bowles when it transferred to the New York stage because she was “exhausted”.<\/p>\n
She told People magazine: \u201cI was thinking that I’ve always said my biggest regret, because I don’t believe in regret, but after I originated the tour of Sally Bowles in Cabaret from the Rob Marshall, Sam Mendes production back in like 1999… I did that in four cities over seven months with Norbert Leo Butz.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was an amazing experience.<\/p>\n
“At the end of that, they asked me to come to Broadway, and I didn’t, because I had a young toddler. I’d already done it for seven months, and I was exhausted. But I look back and I think that was my chance to be on Broadway.”<\/p>\n
\nHowever, the Desperate Housewives star is still hopeful she’ll get the chance to tread the boards in the iconic theatre district at some point in her career.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: “So maybe I’ll get another one. I hope so.”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Teri recently urged famous people to come clean if they have cosmetic surgery to ease the pressure on other women.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking on the Skinny Confidential Him + Her podcast, she said: \u201cI have no judgement about how anybody feels good about themselves in their life.<\/p>\n
\n“I don’t love when people aren’t truthful about it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWhen you’re famous and you lie, you’re sort of making the rest of us feel bad about ourselves. Because we look at you and we go, ‘I guess I\u2019m not drinking enough water.\u2019 And that is unfair.”<\/p>\n
\nTeri insisted she has no desire to go under the knife herself because she wants audiences to look at her on screen and see \u201ca real 60-year-old woman.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cFor now – I don\u2019t know what might happen that would make me change my mind – but for now, when I look in the mirror and I think, what is lacking? What am I still struggling with? What would I like to be better at? How would I like to be better? How can I find peace? Things I think a lot of people ask of themselves.<\/p>\n
\n \u201cMy answer is not a facelift. My answer to myself is internal work, it’s intellectual work, it’s emotional work.”<\/p>\n
\nThe Tomorrow Never Dies star candidly admitted that she would likely have surgery if she started focusing on the “wrinkles in [her] neck” but for now, she doesn’t think she’ll find what she’s looking for by changing her appearance.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI have no judgement about it but I know what I’m searching for. I just know that I have growth to continue to do as a human.<\/p>\n
\n“My instinct isn’t that the answer is in plastic surgery, which is why I’m not doing it.”<\/p>\n
