Describing the experience of dating someone \u201cmore than twice my age\u201d in a personal essay. Eileen, 30, shared the reflections in an article published by Vogue, titled My Boyfriend Is Double My Age. <\/p>\n
While she did not name her partner, Eileen has been publicly linked to red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony, 63, for months, with the pair seen together on multiple occasions this year. <\/p>\n
In her essay, Eileen recounted conversations with friends about relationships and reflected on her own, explaining how her perspective differs from common assumptions about age-gap dynamics.<\/p>\n
She wrote: \u201cMy own boyfriend is more than twice my age, which is either alarming or impressive, depending on who you ask.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe also described how her partner \u201cseems genuinely excited to be with me\u201d rather than searching for \u201csomeone better\u201d, adding that he knows \u201che\u2019s one lucky b******\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nEileen described meeting her partner at a birthday party, where they bonded over a shared connection to Hawaii. <\/p>\n
\nShe wrote: \u201cWe joked about whether we\u2019d ever passed each other on the same stretch of sand, or stood in line next to each other at the same health food store.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nShe said the age gap \u201cdidn\u2019t register at first\u201d, and she initially believed they would become friends before their relationship developed further.<\/p>\n
\nAddressing wider perceptions, Eileen acknowledged the potential challenges of age-gap relationships, noting disparities in finances or emotional maturity \u201ccan set up a dangerous dynamic\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nHowever, she emphasised her own independence. <\/p>\n
\nShe wrote: \u201cI love my boyfriend, but I\u2019m not at risk of losing everything if we break up.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nEileen also described public reactions to the relationship, including awkward assumptions and questions. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cWhat people assume about me, about him, about the structure of our relationship, often reveals more about them than anything that exists between my boyfriend and me.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe relationship itself becomes secondary to what it represents.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nIn defiance of widespread trolling about their age gap romance, Eileen and rocker Anthony have been photographed together at several events, including appearances around the Grammy Awards in February and at an Oscars afterparty hosted by Guy Oseary and Madonna in March.<\/p>\n
