Jennie Garth worked with Shannen Doherty in the 90s<\/p>\n
The 54-year-old actress feuded with her Beverly Hills, 90210 star during the 90s, but Jennie insists that they resolved their differences well before Shannen passed away in July 2024, aged 53.<\/p>\n
Asked if they buried the hatchet, Jennie told Extra: “We did. Absolutely.<\/p>\n
“As women, we, you know, went out to dinner a couple of times with our then-spouses and it was just great because we really did not have the capabilities to handle what we were being thrust into and what kind of, like, pitting one another against each other from the scripts to the media to the people. <\/p>\n
“We didn\u2019t know how to handle that when we were younger but as grown women, we were able to see it for what it was \u2026 and accept apologies from one another and just move on.”<\/p>\n
\nJennie recently revealed that she regretted her rivalry with Shannen.<\/p>\n
\nThe actress expressed regret over their high-profile feud.<\/p>\n
\nShe told People: “I think we were both in the same position, really thrust into the spotlight, and we were written as characters to be against each other. That translated into the media and into the audience and then into the world’s perception of our relationship.<\/p>\n
\n“And that, in turn, was confusing for both of us, I think.”<\/p>\n
\nJennie said the rivalry was fuelled from outside.<\/p>\n
\nThe actress shared: “It really dawned on me it wasn’t just us. This energy was coming at us from everywhere and pitting us against each other.”<\/p>\n
\nJennie feels that the tension made for better TV, but it also came at a cost.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “It was a better story for the show. And I just realised how terrible that was, how terrible it was to put us in that position. Nobody was guiding us. Nobody was getting therapy then. Nobody was talking to us about things. We were both just fending for ourselves.<\/p>\n
\n“We were doing the best we could. And sometimes strong women will clash, especially when they’re young and uneducated about friendship and the importance of it.”<\/p>\n
