Because it\u2019s gone.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sydney Sweeney Scene Cut From &#039;The Devil Wears Prada 2&#039; | THR News\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/a6ebOzN8W2k?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Though Sweeney filmed the scene, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/syndey-sweeney-cameo-cut-devil-wears-prada-2-11954299\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Entertainment Weekly<\/a><\/em> reports that its removal from the final cut was a \u201ccreative decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, the scene did not work structurally for the overall film.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who has worked in any creative storytelling field can attest that, sometimes, you have to exclude scenes, events, or even entire characters for the sake of the overall story.<\/p>\n<p>In a film, time is extremely valuable, and any error can create painful pacing issues.<\/p>\n<p>The team behind <em>The Devil wears Prada 2<\/em> is reportedly grateful for Sweeney\u2019s participation in the project, and were reluctant to cut the scene from the final product.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans | American Eagle\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AK8s3iqL99c?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-but-what-about-the-elephant-or-eagle-in-the-room\">But what about the elephant (or eagle) in the room?<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s probably not a sign of hard feelings or whatever that Sweeney didn\u2019t attend the premiere on Monday, April 20.<\/p>\n<p>Even if she\u2019d still appeared in the final cut, she would have been a cameo, not a lead. And she didn\u2019t even appear in that.<\/p>\n<p>(Few films seek to draw attention to what-might-have-been alternate cuts unless there are serious creative differences, like between a director and a studio.)<\/p>\n<p>But Sweeney filmed her scene last summer. She was, to be blunt, a much less polarizing figure at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Following her not-actually-that-controversial American Eagle add, she\u2019s avoided rejecting Donald Trump\u2019s approval, she\u2019s gone public with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2026\/04\/sydney-sweeney-scooter-braun-relationship-official\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dating Scooter Braun<\/a>, and unconfirmed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2026\/04\/sydney-sweeney-zendaya-euphoria-premiere-beef\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zendaya feud rumors<\/a> have only mounted. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DWtwItlFE2G\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\"\/>\n<p>To be clear, Sweeney has not actually made public statements to cater to bad guys who seem to want to be her biggest fans.<\/p>\n<p>But critics argue that her reluctance to distance herself from them by simply outright rejecting endorsements from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2025\/10\/megyn-kelly-sydney-sweeney-rant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">worst and weirdest people alive<\/a> is damning in and of itself.<\/p>\n<p>(Should she? Yes. But we can fully understand that she\u2019s been put in a no-win scenario as people continue to make up their own stories about who she is and what her values are.)<\/p>\n<p>For now, any time that she is cast in something or <em>not <\/em>cast in something, invited or disinvited, people are going to read more into it than is probably there.<\/p>\n<p>People are unable to be normal about Sweeney.
