Chicago Fire<\/em><\/a> fans are used to their favorite characters being in mortal danger<\/a> but, those close calls don\u2019t usually involve the paramedic duo of Violet and Novak \u2014 until now.<\/p>\n

Jocelyn Hudon<\/strong><\/a>, who plays paramedic Lyla Novak, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> that the Wednesday, April 22, episode of the NBC series is all about the women trusting \u201ctheir instincts to get out of a dangerous situation and save some lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unlike most episodes of the show<\/a>, Novak and her paramedic partner and Ambo 61 leader Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith<\/strong><\/a>) won\u2019t be backed by their entire firehouse. In fact, the actors told Us they are pretty much on their own for much of the episode.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re working with a smaller operation,\u201d Greensmith, 29, told Us<\/em> ahead of Wednesday\u2019s episode, noting that fans will see Violet and Novak \u201cband together\u201d with one firefighter to \u201csave not only each other\u2019s lives, but the lives of the other people in the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hudon, 31, teased that fans will feel like they are right there \u201cwith us in the bunker for the whole episode,\u201d confirming, \u201cIt\u2019s definitely different and unique for our show.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the upcoming episode, titled \u201cInstinct,\u201d Violet and Novak are \u201cthrust into a dangerous and rapidly escalating situation\u201d while out in the field, according to the official logline.<\/p>\n

The situation then forces them to \u201crely on their instincts to protect both themselves and a vulnerable patient,\u201d per NBC.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tChicago Fire made another cast change with Dermot Mulroney\u2018s Chief Dom Pascal stepping back from Firehouse 51 after an offscreen hiatus. The Wednesday, March 11, episode of the hit NBC series showed Pascal having his position revoked after he previously disobeyed a federal agent\u2019s order to stand down while collecting evidence at a house fire. [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While most of the details of the call haven\u2019t been released, a preview for the episode revealed that Violet and Novak get flagged down by a man claiming his girlfriend is in labor.<\/p>\n

When they get to the man\u2019s basement, they discover that the pregnant woman is being held captive and chained to a bed, so the paramedics must try to find a way out \u2014 and keep their patient safe.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have no idea what\u2019s going to happen next<\/a>,\u201d Greensmith told Us<\/em> of the premise, noting that like life itself, this episode has many twists and turns. \u201cOf course, [there is the] belief in what our capabilities are. But at the end of the day, we\u2019re working with a live wire.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress revealed that Violet and Novak have \u201cno idea what this man is capable of\u201d after being lured to the basement to tend to the pregnant woman.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tViolet has experienced several romantic heartbreaks on Chicago Fire, and while season 14 will start with a breakup it won\u2019t be all doom and gloom for the paramedic. \u201cViolet has had some tortured relationships in the past and is coming off some serious heartbreak,\u201d showrunner Andrea Newman exclusively told Us Weekly on Thursday, September 25, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Greensmith teased that there comes a point where the paramedics \u201cbecome very well aware that he\u2019s capable of killing someone, and that definitely changes the stakes and the dynamics at that time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hudon noted that once Novak and Violet get \u201ctaken to a second location,\u201d it signifies that something isn\u2019t right.<\/p>\n
