Virginia Sen. Mark Warner<\/strong> announced that his daughter Madison has died. She was 36.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are heartbroken beyond words by the passing of our beloved daughter Madison \u2026 after a decades-long battle with juvenile diabetes and other health issues,\u201d Warner, 71, and wife Lisa Collis<\/strong> wrote in a statement shared via Instagram<\/a> on Monday, April 20. \u201cShe filled our lives with love and laughter, and her absence leaves an immeasurable void.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement continued, \u201cWe are grateful for the loving support of friends and family during this difficult time and ask for privacy as we navigate this profound loss.\u201d<\/p>\n

Several politicians sent their condolences to Warner\u2019s family following their loss.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFormer Republican senator Ben Sasse revealed he has been diagnosed with stage IV cancer. \u201cLast week I was diagnosed with metastasized, stage-four pancreatic cancer, and am gonna die,\u201d Sasse, 53, wrote via X on Tuesday, December 23, about his health battle. The politician reflected on his immediate reaction to his diagnosis. \u201cDeath is a wicked [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cOur prayers are with Sen. Warner, his daughter, and their whole family,\u201d Vice President JD Vance<\/strong> wrote via X<\/a> on Monday. \u201cWhat a terrible loss at such a young age. May God comfort them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger<\/strong> also sent her sympathies to the Warner family.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy deepest condolences are with the Warner family as Mark and Lisa mourn their beloved daughter and Gillian and Eliza mourn their sister, Madison,\u201d Spanberger wrote via X<\/a> on Monday. \u201cAdam and I are holding them all in our hearts and prayers during this time of great loss.\u201d<\/p>\n

Warner\u2019s Senate colleague Tim Kaine<\/strong> paid tribute to Madison reflecting on her bond with her father.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnne and I have known Mark and Lisa for decades, and nothing in the world has ever mattered more to them than their daughters,\u201d Kaine wrote in a statement via X<\/a> on Monday. \u201cWe met Madison when she was ten years old and have so many wonderful memories of time together with her. We are keeping the entire Warner family and all who knew and loved Madison in our prayers as they grieve this terrible loss.\u201d<\/p>\n

Warner is a senior senator representing Virginia as a Democrat. He was elected to office in 2009. Warner serves as the vice chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus and the Senate Intelligence Committee. Before joining Congress, Warner was governor of Virginia from 2002 to 2006.<\/p>\n
