The 2026 Breakthrough Prize<\/strong><\/em> ceremony is here!<\/p>\n

The 12th annual event, also known as the \u201cOscars of Science,\u201d took place on Saturday night (April 18) in Santa Monica, Calif. at Barker Hangar.<\/p>\n

Dozens of stars were there to walk the red carpet, including Jessica Chastain, Gal Gadot, Michelle Yeoh, Lily Collins, Ben Affleck, Robert Downey Jr., Octavia Spencer, Edward Norton, Salma Hayek, Olivia Wilde, Anne Hathaway<\/strong>, and many, many more!<\/p>\n

The Breakthrough Prize celebration honors scientists from a variety of fields leading the way research and discoveries.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the Life Sciences, their work has led to gene therapies for three devastating diseases \u2013 inherited blindness, sickle cell disease and beta-thalassemia, and identified a key genetic cause of two more \u2013 ALS and frontotemporal dementia. In Physics and Mathematics, they have constructed theories of the fundamental forces of nature and probed them to mind-blowing precision, and revealed deep truths about the mathematical behavior of waves,\u201d shares the website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This year, six prizes of $3 million each were awards and the foundation recognized \u201c15 early-career physicists and mathematicians, who share six $100,000 New Horizons Prizes. Three women mathematicians recently completing PhDs each receives a $50,000 Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontiers Prize.\u201d<\/p>\n
