Ryan Hurd<\/a>, with whom she has a six-year-old son named Hayes – reflected on “briefly” seeing a woman after a fan asked the star to describe her “bisexual journey”, which Maren admitted was “pretty short”.<\/p>\nIn a TikTok video posted on Wednesday (15.04.26), the Girl hitmaker shared: “I briefly was like seeing a woman, and I was not looking for anything serious. <\/p>\n
“I feel like I’m at a point in my life right now where I don’t have that to give, and I was very clear about that because I’m all about communication, and she was like, ‘Oh, totally, I’m down.’ And it was clear that that was not the case.<\/p>\n
“Within like three weeks of this like completely falling apart, it was like lies, threats to my reputation and like borderline extortion. It was pretty f***** up. <\/p>\n
\n“And for that to be my first experience, it was just so depressing, and I was just like, ‘I think I’m just really cool being alone.'”<\/p>\n
\nMaren then found out from her “lesbian friends” that she went through a “very normal” experience.<\/p>\n
\nThe star continued: “They’re like, ‘Oh, that’s very normal in the community. You start seeing women, and one is going to like almost ruin your life, like we’ve all been there. You just have to like push through.’<\/p>\n
\n“Is that a thing?”<\/p>\n
\nSinger Kathryn Gallagher sympathised with Maren in the post’s comments section, saying: “Oh yeah big time – hang in there! It gets SO good. (sic)”<\/p>\n
\nThe Grammy award-winning artist replied: “I’ll stay in the course but omg. (sic)”<\/p>\n
\nKathryn, 32, responded: “Here to trade war stories whenever you want my girl.”<\/p>\n
\nMaren’s fans also showed their support, as one could relate: “Sorry girl. That’s f***** up. Hope ur journey gets better. My bi journey has been short too. (sic)”<\/p>\n
\nA second supporter typed: “Every other one will be crazy..but hang in there. When you are ready, it will happen. You have to be good being alone first! (sic).”<\/p>\n
\nAnd a third follower wrote: “Its THE thing. Don’t give up! It gets so much better. (sic)”<\/p>\n
\nIn May 2025, Maren shared how “nervous” she was before her first date with a woman, but was relieved to have a great time.<\/p>\n
\nAppearing on an episode of the U Up? podcast, The Bones singer told co-hosts Jared Freid and Jordana Abraham: “I had never been on a date with a woman. So, of course, I’m going to be like, ‘What the hell does this look like?’ But then it was so easy and ended up being like a three-hour hang.”<\/p>\n
\nBut Maren finds it easier to forge a deep connection with another woman compared to a man.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “My experience has been really positive. But I also have a confusion sometimes because I can connect with a woman, any woman, within like two minutes, and we’ll be talking about our childhoods… Like, we will get into it so quickly. <\/p>\n
\n“With a guy that would take like years to get into that trauma.<\/p>\n
\n“But we’re so good at building community out of sharing stories or gossip or whatever… It’s a survival technique. We cling together out of vulnerabilities.”<\/p>\n
\nBut bonding with women on an “emotionally deep level” led to some confusion, where Maren has found it difficult to establish if there is a romantic spark or not.<\/p>\n
\nThe My Church performer said: “I sometimes have the hard delineation of romance versus friendship, because women can connect so quickly and easily, which is a magical thing about us.<\/p>\n
\n“But that’s the comparison, I guess, to dating men, right? Because I’ve been there. It’s like, I have enough friends. I think I’m good. I’m looking for something beyond that. But sometimes the chemistry isn’t there. It doesn’t depend, you know, on the guy or the girl.”<\/p>\n
