Certainly a fall from grace for a relatively high profile family that seemingly had had a lot of things going in their favor,\u201d Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said in a statement, according to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/16\/us-news\/ex-virginia-lt-gov-justin-fairfax-kills-wife-himself-in-murder-suicide-at-home-amid-messy-divorce-cops-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The New York Post<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo tragic for the children to lose both parents, extra tragic for them to actually be in the home when it occurred. So yeah, there\u2019s a lot going on,\u201d Davis continued, adding:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis has been an ongoing domestic dispute surrounding what seems to be a complicated or messy divorce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s a secret that there\u2019s been a divorce proceedings that have been ongoing. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DXMafinIAz5\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\"\/>\n<p>\u201cFrom what I understand in this early stage, former Lieutenant Governor Fairfax was recently served some paperwork associated with an upcoming court proceeding that apparently led to this incident last night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former lieutenant governor had been on local authorities\u2019 radar for several months.<\/p>\n<p>Back in January, Justin falsely accused Cerina of physically assaulting him inside their home.<\/p>\n<p>Police determined that he had made a false report after reviewing security camera footage.<\/p>\n<p>It was not the first time that Fairfax had been embroiled in public controversy.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.thehollywoodgossip.com\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-1217526741-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Virginia Lieutenant Gov.
