Meghan Trainor received an apology from Ashley Tisdale<\/p>\n
The High School Musical star sparked speculation when she called out “mean-girl behaviour” in a piece for The Cut about cutting ties with some of her friends last year, with fans questioning whether the All About That Bass hitmaker was one of the people Ashley was talking about.<\/p>\n
However, Meghan – who has Riley, five, Barry, two, and Mikey, three months, with husband Daryl Sabara – has insisted she wasn’t part of the drama because she was such a “bad friend”, she hadn’t had the time to atttend any meet-ups and so the group had already moved on without her before Ashley allegedly experienced problems.<\/p>\n
Asked about the drama, Meghan told Us Weekly magazine: “I was a bad mom friend. I never went. They had so many events; they were awesome and always there for each other.<\/p>\n
“There was a group chat, but eventually they started a group chat without me because I wasn\u2019t there\u2026 and that was totally fine. I didn\u2019t feel bad. <\/p>\n
\n“The last time I saw them was like a year ago, and I brought them to dinner and paid for it because I was like, ‘I\u2019m so sorry that I\u2019m just not present\u2026’<\/p>\n
\n” And then that [story] popped up, and I was like, ‘What?!?’<\/p>\n
\n“I saw my face everywhere, and wait a second, I\u2019m not even there\u2026 I saw a TikTok where they were like, ‘Well, everyone hates Meghan Trainor right now, so I bet she\u2019s the mean one.’ And I was like, ‘Don\u2019t worry, guys.’<\/p>\n
\n“But some moms in that group don\u2019t want to be famous and never wanted attention. It was really hard for a lot of moms, and I felt so bad.”<\/p>\n
\nMeghan blamed the situation on “miscommunication and confusion” and she was reassuring when Ashley got in touch to express regret that her name had been linked with the saga.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: “I felt bad for Ashley, that she was ever that sad. I think it was just a lot of miscommunication and confusion. I don\u2019t really know what happened, but I wish them all the best. I texted all of them. <\/p>\n
\n“Ashley texted me, ”I\u2019m sorry, your name got dragged in.’<\/p>\n
\n“And I was like, ‘It\u2019s all right, girl. The world\u2019s a silly, crazy place, and they just want something to talk about.’ “<\/p>\n
\nAshley first discussed leaving her “toxic” group of mom friends in a blog post.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “Here\u2019s the thing nobody prepared me for: Mom groups can turn toxic. <\/p>\n
\n“Not because the moms themselves are toxic people, but because the dynamic shifts into an ugly place with mean-girl behaviour. I know this from personal experience.”<\/p>\n
\nAshley explained there were group text chains that “didn’t include everyone” and there were “hangouts” she didn’t get invited to.<\/p>\n
\nIn her essay for The Cut, she went on to open up about how she started to feel “excluded”, writing: “I was certain that I\u2019d found my village.<\/p>\n
\n“But over time, I began to wonder whether that was really true. I remember being left out of a couple of group hangs, and I knew about them because Instagram made sure it fed me every single photo and Instagram Story. <\/p>\n
\n“Another time, at one of the mom\u2019s dinner parties, I realised where I sat with her – which was at the end of the table, far from the rest of the women. I was starting to feel frozen out of the group, noticing every way that they seemed to exclude me.”<\/p>\n
