\nThe 33-year-old singer is one of the world’s best-selling country artists, but fame doesn’t stop Lainey from living a relatively normal life.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking to People, Lainey explained: “I could be at Walgreens or Walmart, and as soon as I\u2019m checking out at the counter, the cashier will kind of look at me weird. There\u2019s no hiding the voice.”<\/p>\n
\nThe country star has already exceeded her own expectations in the music industry.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “Even 15 years in Nashville could not prepare me for the way my career exploded. I mean, this is all I could have ever wanted and more.”<\/p>\n
\nDespite her success, Lainey is determined to remain grounded, insisting she’s not defined by accolades or fame.<\/p>\n
\nThe Things a Man Oughta Know hitmaker explained: “I\u2019m not just a singer, songwriter, musician \u2014 that\u2019s what I do.<\/p>\n
\n“Trophies and awards are things that come along with success, but it cannot define me as a person, because that\u2019s when I lose sight of who I am. I got to keep my head screwed on straight.”<\/p>\n
\nLainey previously claimed that she’s become “thicker-skinned” since finding fame.<\/p>\n
\nThe singer admitted that she’s been forced to adapt in order to cope with the pressures of fame and success.<\/p>\n
\nShe told Us Weekly: “I\u2019ve definitely become thicker-skinned, which I\u2019m proud of, because for a minute, I did let it get to me.<\/p>\n
\n“I\u2019m human and I\u2019m a songwriter. I think words are powerful – that\u2019s why I started writing songs to begin with.”<\/p>\n
\nLainey has had to learn how to cope with external criticism of herself and her music.<\/p>\n
\nShe shared: “You\u2019ll read something negative and it kind of pings your heart for a minute. You have to pull yourself up by the bootstraps and keep on going.”<\/p>\n
\nLainey has more than four million followers on Instagram and she’s “learned [her] lesson” about reading the comments on her social media posts.<\/p>\n
\nShe explained: “You\u2019ll look at a hundred positive [ones] and then you see that one negative, and that\u2019s the one that you\u2019re gonna hold onto.”<\/p>\n
