Lena Dunham became reflective after Girls success<\/p>\n
The 39-year-old actress shot to stardom as the creator, writer, and star of the hit HBO series Girls, which premiered in 2012, and Lena admits to becoming particularly reflective when the show ended in 2017.<\/p>\n
She told People: “After Girls ended, I really put in a lot of time solo \u2014 romantically. I would say my biggest connections at that point were my family. And I have a lot of friendships that have withstood this period, but there was a lot of solo reflective time, really sleepless nights thinking about what is my part in these cycles that I continue to play out with people?<\/p>\n
“And I think that is one of the most torturous parts of being alive is trying to figure out how do I learn and yet keep finding myself up against these same dynamics.”<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Lena previously revealed that she developed a toxic relationship with the internet after finding fame.<\/p>\n
\nThe actress admitted to developing an unhealthy obsession with online chatter.<\/p>\n
\nShe told the Guardian newspaper: “If you have an addictive personality, which clearly I do, any hit of the dopamine of positivity [is welcome] and there\u2019s also a hit of adrenaline that comes from the negative. And then, because you see something negative, you want to see something positive to erase it, and you end up in this cycle.<\/p>\n
\n“It\u2019s easy when you\u2019re young to feel the internet\u2019s a game you want to win.<\/p>\n
\n“I remember breaking up with a guy in my early 20s and him writing an email that was really mean. And my father said, \u2018Well, why don\u2019t you just ignore him? You\u2019ve broken up, you don\u2019t have to do anything else.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Because I don\u2019t want him to have the last word.\u2019 And then you meet up with the person and they act sweet so you kiss them, then they act mean again. And that\u2019s the relationship you\u2019re in with the internet.”<\/p>\n
