The former ER star, 54, made the remark as he spoke out following news his co-star on his latest hit medical drama, Supriya Ganesh, 28 \u2013\u00a0who has played Dr Mohan since the show\u2019s first season \u2013 will not return for its third season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The series, which follows the hectic workings of an emergency department, has built its narrative around the shifting nature of hospital staffing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Speaking to Variety at the PaleyFest event, Noah said the structure of the show meant departures were unavoidable, as writers aim to reflect the realities of medical careers while maintaining continuity within the ensemble cast.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cIt\u2019s an inevitability that\u2019s going to happen every season with this show because as writers we\u2019re hard pressed to figure out what a lapse of time we can have and keep most of the ensemble together realistically.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nNoah added: \u201cEmergency rooms have a high revolving door. As always, we try to bring in new characters or promote from within as we go through these cast changes and try to keep the storylines fresh.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe stressed: \u201cBut obviously, Supriya has been a huge part of our show since the beginning.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nNoah also said: \u201cAnd I love playing with her and working with Supriya, and we wish her all the best in her next endeavours. We\u2019re going to miss her.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe Pitt\u2019s showrunner R. Scott Gemmill also addressed Supriya\u2019s exit, explaining the decision in comments to Variety.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cIt\u2019s sort of the nature of the show.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe show boss added: \u201cUnfortunately, the way the medical profession works, you come in, you learn, you move on, and we want to try and be as truthful to that process as possible. So we\u2019re going to turn over our cast.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut I think it\u2019s a great launching pad for people.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd that\u2019s the best we can do.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nSupriya\u2019s character, Dr Mohan, is depicted as being in the midst of her residency during the current season, with storylines focused on decisions about her professional future, including the possibility of moving hospitals.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nSupriya has not publicly commented on her departure.<\/p>\n
