The Pitt<\/em>\u2018s Noah Wyle<\/strong> <\/a>broke his silence on Supriya Ganesh<\/strong>\u2018s controversial exit from the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an inevitability that\u2019s going to happen every season with this show, because as writers we\u2019re hard-pressed to figure out what a lapse of time we can have and keep most of the ensemble together realistically,\u201d Wyle, 54, told Variety<\/em><\/a> at PaleyFest\u2019s screening of The Pitt<\/em> on Sunday, April 12.<\/p>\n

The actor defended the decision to write out Ganesh\u2019s character<\/a>, adding, \u201cEmergency rooms have a high revolving door. As always, we try to bring in new characters or promote from within as we go through these cast changes and try to keep the story lines fresh, but obviously Supriya has been a huge part of our show since the beginning.\u201d<\/p>\n

He concluded: \u201cDr. Mohan is a beloved character, and I love playing with her and working with Supriya, and we wish her all the best in her next endeavors, and we\u2019re going to miss her.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Pitt cast has not shied away from reacting to losing some of their own as multiple actors leave the show. HBO Max\u2019s hit series, which premiered in January 2025, follows a group of employees at a fictional Pittsburgh hospital\u2019s ER working a single 15-hour shift. The series is led by Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle), [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Creator R. Scott Gemmill<\/strong> was also asked about the divisive cast change, saying, \u201cIt\u2019s sort of the nature of the show. Unfortunately, the way the medical profession works, you come in, you learn, you move on, and we want to try and be as truthful to that process as possible. So we\u2019re going to turn over our cast. But I think it\u2019s a great launching pad for people, and that\u2019s the best we can do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ganesh, 28, for her part, was not in attendance<\/a> at the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cHi everyone \u2014 not sure why it\u2019s not removed off the site but I will not be at Paleyfest this Sunday,\u201d she wrote via Instagram on Thursday, April 10. \u201cI know some of you bought tickets to see me and I hope you know this is not a decision I take lightly. Love you all.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was originally announced in February that Ganesh would appear at the panel<\/a> alongside showrunner Gemmill and cast members Wyle, Katherine LaNasa, Isa Briones, Shawn Hatosy, Sepideh Moafi<\/strong> and Taylor Dearden<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Briones, 27, Hatosy, 50, and Moafi, 40, were later removed from the schedule<\/a> due to other work commitments. Ganesh, however, didn\u2019t give a reason for her absence and has continued to remain tight-lipped about her character, Dr. Samira Mohan, being written off before season 3.<\/p>\n

It was reported in April that Ganesh\u2019s departure as Mohan was a \u201cstory-driven\u201d choice since the show is set in a teaching hospital. Ayesha Harris, meanwhile, has been promoted, as her character, Dr. Parker Ellis, is expected to play a larger role in season 3.<\/p>\n

Ganesh is not the first cast member whose exit caused backlash among viewers. Tracy Ifeachor<\/strong> confirmed her exit in July 2025, with a source telling Us Weekly<\/em> that month that it was always the plan for her character \u2014 who was a fourth-year resident in the first season \u2014 to move on with her career.<\/p>\n

The insider told Us that Ifeachor \u201cdidn\u2019t choose to leave the show\u201d and wasn\u2019t aware of \u201cany doors being closed\u201d on a possible return. No news has since been shared about Ifeachor making an appearance<\/a> in future episodes.<\/p>\n

Ganesh, meanwhile, recently told Us in February that she was \u201ccurious\u201d where her character would be when season 3 began, noting, \u201cIt\u2019s up to the writers. Let\u2019s see where they end up taking her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ganesh concluded: \u201cI think we left her in a really interesting spot. I\u2019m really curious where she ends up going.\u201d<\/p>\n

While at PaleyFest on Sunday, Us<\/em> spoke with Wyle and Gemmill about the vision for season 3.<\/a><\/p>\n
