\t\t<\/p>\n Eric Swalwell<\/strong><\/a> has officially withdrawn himself from the race for Governor of California.<\/p>\n The 45-year-old state representative was recently accused by a former female staffer of sexually assaulting her on multiple occasions. <\/p>\n After speaking out in a video <\/a>in regards to the allegations, where he called them \u201cabsolutely false,\u201d Eric<\/strong> has now dropped out of the Governor\u2019s race, in which he was running to take over after Gavin Newsom<\/strong>\u2018s term has come to an end.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI am suspending my campaign for Governor,\u201d Eric<\/strong> shared on Twitter\/X<\/a>. \u201cTo my family, staff, friends, and supporters, I am deeply sorry for mistakes in judgment I\u2019ve made in my past.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cI will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made \u2014 but that\u2019s my fight, not a campaign\u2019s,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n Eric<\/strong>\u2018s withdrawal from the campaign comes after many politicians called for him to drop out amid the allegations.<\/p>\n \u201cA lot has been said about me today through anonymous allegations and I thought it was important that you see and hear from me directly. These allegations of sexual assault are flat out false,\u201d he said in his video posted on Saturday (April 11). \u201cThey are absolutely false. They did not happen. They have never happened.
