\t\t<\/p>\n U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell<\/strong><\/a> is breaking his silence.<\/p>\n On Friday (April 10), the 45-year-old politician, who is currently running for Governor of California, was accused by a former female staffer of sexually assaulting her while she was intoxicated on multiple occasions, the San Francisco Chronicle<\/a><\/em> reported. Several other female staffers also accused him of sexual harassment.<\/p>\n Later that evening, Swalwell <\/strong>released a video on X<\/a> addressing the allegations, which he called \u201cabsolutely false.\u201d<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u201cA lot has been said about me today through anonymous allegations and I thought it was important that you see and hear from me directly. These allegations of sexual assault are flat out false,\u201d Swalwell<\/strong> said. \u201cThey are absolutely false. They did not happen. They have never happened. And I will fight them with everything that I have.\u201d<\/p>\n He went on to say that he is not \u201cperfect\u201d or a \u201csaint,\u201d but his past \u201cmistakes in judgment\u201d are between him and his wife Brittany Watts<\/strong>. He also apologized to his wife for \u201cputting her in this position.\u201d<\/p>\n Swalwell<\/strong> then apologized to his supporters for potentially causing them to doubt their support for him.<\/p>\n \u201cFor over 20 years, I have served the public as a city councilman, as a member of Congress, and as a prosecutor who went to court on behalf of victims, particularly on behalf of sexual assault victims,\u201d Swalwell<\/strong> said. \u201cThat\u2019s who I am and have always been.\u201d<\/p>\n The allegations have caused many of Swalwell<\/strong>\u2018s top Democratic supporters to withdraw their endorsements of him for governor, and some have event encouraged him to drop out of the race entirely.<\/p>\n As of Saturday morning, Swalwell<\/strong> remains a candidate in California\u2019s gubernatorial race.<\/p>\n Earlier this year, Swalwell<\/strong>\u2018s rep responded to that erotic poem<\/a> the politician allegedly wrote in college.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
