Lucy Liu<\/strong><\/a> is aware there\u2019s a \u201chigh bar\u201d for the Devil Wears Prada<\/em> sequel, but she\u2019s confident the film can bring it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think what I\u2019m excited about is for them to get that sense of nostalgia and to feel more than sated by it,\u201d Liu, 57, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> on Thursday, April 9, while promoting her partnership with Pfizer on the Every Breakthrough Matters campaign. \u201cBecause when you go in to see a sequel, the expectations are even higher. When you see a movie, when it\u2019s original, you don\u2019t really know what you\u2019re going to get.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cSo there is a high bar for this, and I think that there\u2019s going to be a great feeling of expectation, but I really feel like they\u2019re going to want to see it more than once.\u201d<\/p>\n

Liu is among the new cast members<\/a> of Devil Wears Prada 2<\/em>, which sees Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway<\/strong>)\u2019s return to the famed Runway<\/em> magazine<\/a> as Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep<\/strong>) navigates a new media landscape. The pair, who were once at odds, reconnect with Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt<\/strong>) for help on the struggling brand.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnne Hathaway is returning for the Devil Wears Prada sequel alongside her other costars Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci. News broke in July 2024 that Aline Brosh McKenna, the screenwriter behind the 2006 fashion comedy, was working on a script for a follow-up film for Disney. Producer Wendy Finerman will also return to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

When asked what the best part about working with Hathaway is on the film, Liu gushed, \u201cJust how easy both her and Meryl are.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody\u2019s dashing onto the set,\u201d she explained. \u201cEveryone shows up when they\u2019re supposed to show up. There\u2019s no sense of entitlement from anyone. There\u2019s just an ease. And I think that\u2019s what a work environment should be, because it eventually is a family environment, because you spend so much time together, whether it\u2019s in a day or a week or months that cross. I think it shows a great sense of professionalism. And I admire that very much.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the classic 2006 OG film (based on Lauren Weisberger<\/strong>\u2019s novel of the same name), fans watched as the characters brought the fashion<\/a> \u2014 and the highly-anticipated sequel is turning out to be no different.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did not get to keep my fashion from it, but it is forever emblazoned in film, so it\u2019s there,\u201d Liu said. \u201cSo everyone gets to keep that fashion for themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Liu \u2014 who received a false positive breast cancer diagnosis \u2014 the partnership is a \u201creminder of what happened\u201d and that it \u201cdoesn\u2019t have to happen for other people.\u201d<\/p>\n
