James Bourne is ‘on the mend’ according to Matt Willis<\/p>\n
The 42-year-old musician left fans devastated last year when he was forced to pull out of the band’s tour with McFly the day before it kicked off due to an unspecified health concern and he recently revealed he’s planning to undergo “major surgery” that will help “extend” his life – and now his longtime pal Matt has insisted James is “getting better”.<\/p>\n
During an appearance on UK TV show Good Morning Britain on Thursday (09.04.26), Matt said: “It happened quite quickly, he got ill just before the tour started …<\/p>\n
“So we put something out there. But he put something out recently, an update of how he is getting on. Yeah, he’s not very well, but he’s getting better. He’s on the mend.”<\/p>\n
Host Adil Ray told Matt to “send him our love” and the Busted star replied: “I will do … I am seeing him today!”<\/p>\n
\nBack in September, James revealed he would be pulling out of the tour. He wrote on Instagram at the time: \u201cThe VS tour kicks off tomorrow night in Birmingham and as excited as l’ve been all year for this tour to begin, I’m really sorry to say that over the last 8 days it has become clear that I am not in good enough health to play these shows. <\/p>\n
\n“There’s a lot of information I still don’t have about my condition but my bandmates, management and I are unanimous in deciding that I should focus on the medical stuff for now. <\/p>\n
\n“I really hope I can be in a position to come back further down the line. It’s still going to. be an amazing show and I will miss being there! See you all as soon as possible.” <\/p>\n
\nHe added in a caption: \u201cFeeling grateful to have the support of my girlfriend and my family. Taking a break for a while.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nJames returned to social media earlier this week to give an update on his condition, declaring he wants to get back to \u201ctouring and making music\u201d as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
\nIn a post on his Instagram Stories, James wrote: “I realised it’s been about six months since I posted last. I have a plan in place to have a major surgery that should extend my life and hopefully make me well enough to come back to what I love the most which is touring and making music. <\/p>\n
\n“It really sucks to be out of the game. But there is hope!” <\/p>\n
\nHe did not give any extra information on his health or any details of the planned surgery.<\/p>\n
