Apple TV\u2019s hit series Shrinking<\/em><\/a> has big plans \u2014 and major changes \u2014 in store for season 4, which has led some viewers to theorize that Harrison Ford<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0won\u2019t be returning as a main cast member.<\/p>\n

Shrinking, which premiered in 2023, stars Jason Segel<\/strong> as Jimmy, a grieving therapist who decides to become more involved in his patients\u2019 lives. Ford, 83, plays Paul, a senior therapist and colleague of Jimmy\u2019s who has Parkinson\u2019s disease.<\/a><\/p>\n

Over the years, creator Bill Lawrence<\/strong> has made it clear that he had a three-season vision<\/a> for the show. Season 1 would follow Jimmy\u2019s grief, while the sophomore season would address forgiveness as he bonded with the man who accidentally killed his wife. Season 3, which concluded on Wednesday, April 8, shows Jimmy moving forward and possibly finding love with Cobie Smulders<\/strong>\u2019 Sofi.<\/p>\n

Lawrence\u2019s hints that season 4 would depart from his original plan for the show caused some concern on social media earlier this month. The screenwriter, 57, however, has since clarified that the same stars will be playing the same characters next season. He also confirmed that Ford\u2019s character isn\u2019t going anywhere \u2014 despite speculation that Paul\u2019s health could take a turn for the worse.<\/p>\n

Over the years, many television stars have suddenly left their roles \u2014 while others have been cut from a series without much notice. Anna Faris announced in September 2020 that she was leaving CBS\u2019 Mom after starring as the lead character [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ford reflected on his role at the PaleyFest LA panel on Tuesday, April 7, calling it \u201cone of the most pleasurable experiences of my life.\u201d Joining him were Segel, Jessica Williams, Lukita Maxwell, Luke Tennie, Christa Miller, Michael Urie<\/strong> and Ted McGinley<\/strong>, who are all expected to be back.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think people will feel when they come back to this show, that it\u2019s a completely different story,\u201d Lawrence said at the event. \u201cAnd the reason we agreed to do it was that we feel that the cast and characters of this show have enough stuff going on in their life that we are interested in seeing what a new story for these characters looks like.\u201d<\/p>\n
