James Lafferty<\/strong> <\/a>and Stephen Colletti<\/strong> <\/a>don\u2019t always agree on the direction of the comedy series they cocreated, Everyone Is Doing Great<\/em> \u2014 but they always hear each other out.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have our disagreements, for sure, creatively, but I think \u2026 we\u2019ve always had a very good way of, first of all, putting the friendship first,\u201d Lafferty, 37, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> on Tuesday, June 20, while promoting his partnership with Smirnoff ICE amid the adult beverage\u2019s Relaunch Tour<\/a>. \u201cAnd then second of all, I think it always comes down to whoever feels the most passionate about something. There must be something to that.\u201d<\/p>\n The One Tree Hill<\/em><\/a> alums \u2014 who costarred on the WB drama from 2007 to 2012 \u2014 launched an Indiegogo campaign in 2018 to raise production funds for their new series<\/a>, which Lafferty and the Laguna Beach<\/em> alum<\/a>, 37, cowrite and coproduce. The show follows former costars Jeremy (Lafferty), Seth (Colletti), Andrea (Alexandra Park<\/strong><\/a>) and Izzy (Cariba Heine<\/strong>) as they try to figure out what\u2019s next for them after the end of their successful vampire TV series. Season 2 premiered at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival earlier this week.<\/p>\n Lafferty \u2014 who has been married to Park<\/a>, 34, since May 2022 \u2014 told Us<\/em> that the comedy\u2019s second installment features more of his wife and Heine, 34, compared to season 1.<\/p>\n \u201cThe goal was always to make them a big part of the show from the very beginning. They\u2019re so funny and so talented and charming and there [were] just some schedule issues, so we couldn\u2019t get all their time in season 1. But season 2, it\u2019s really a four-hander between the four of our characters,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n Lafferty added that it\u2019s been \u201ca great privilege\u201d to collaborate on the show with Park. \u201cThe first year of our marriage has been crazy because we\u2019ve been working on season 2,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s been a wild ride. It\u2019s been tough and challenging, but this is sort of where we thrive. This is how we get closer \u2014 when we both do what we love<\/a> together.\u201d<\/p>\n Like his character on Everyone Is Doing Great<\/em>, Lafferty knows what it\u2019s like to be part of a television phenomenon. However, he hasn\u2019t rewatched OTH<\/em> \u2014 the show that propelled him to stardom.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve never watched it back from start to finish,\u201d he told Us<\/em>. \u201cI\u2019ve seen episodes of the show again here and there. I kind of feel like it would be, like, if you were to watch \u2026 a video of your high school experience. Because I was so young. I was just fresh outta high school when I was on One Tree Hill<\/em>, and there was so much growing up that I was doing. You can literally see me age from, like, a teenager to a young man on the show. And so, that to me is just a little bit awkward to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite his hesitancy to binge the teen drama, the director described his time on OTH<\/em> as \u201ca beautiful, beautiful experience<\/a> that I really cherish.\u201d He recalled \u201cfeeling like I needed to be overly professional\u201d due to being \u201cthe youngest person on set by a few years.\u201d Lafferty wasn\u2019t of legal drinking age when the show began, and he joked to Us a<\/em>bout looking forward to the day when he could enjoy a refreshing Smirnoff ICE.<\/p>\n \u201cI actually remember being there the very first season and I wasn\u2019t allowed to drink, obviously. But I remember seeing the Smirnoff ICE around and being like, \u2018When I turn 21, I think I might crack one of those,\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The Oculus<\/em> actor will be in attendance at the Smirnoff ICE Relaunch Tour\u2019s Los Angeles stop on Thursday, June 22. Steve Aoki<\/strong><\/a> and Elena Rose<\/strong> are slated to perform. All ticket sales will go toward the nonprofit Women in Music<\/a>, which is dedicated to advancing women in the musical art space.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m excited for a great concert and I\u2019m excited to enjoy a nice beverage,\u201d Lafferty said of the upcoming event. \u201cI feel like it\u2019s been a while since I\u2019ve had a Smirnoff ICE. \u2018Cause it sort of feels like it went away and now it\u2019s back in a big way. \u2018Cause it\u2019s summertime<\/a> and it\u2019s time to enjoy something cool and refreshing.\u201d<\/p>\n
