The 29-year-old nephew of Michael, who died aged 50 in 2009 will make his acting debut portraying the Billie Jean singer in Michael. <\/p>\n

He discussed the experience in conversation with his co-star Miles Teller<\/a>, who plays Michael\u2019s lawyer and manager John Branca, for Interview. <\/p>\n

Jaafar said: \u201c(My mother) came to set one time, but she wasn\u2019t aware of what to expect.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven in the process of preparing for it, I didn\u2019t tell her for a full year.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nHe added: \u201cNo. No one in my family knew for a full year. I kept it pretty quiet until I felt comfortable enough to share it.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cBut when my mom saw it on-screen, it blew her away. It was hard for her to connect it to me, so it was very emotional for her.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nJaafar said his mother found watching the film challenging. <\/p>\n

\nHe added: \u201cIt was strange.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cShe is very protective of me, knowing what’s to come with the attention the movie will receive.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cMy father hasn\u2019t seen it yet, and I can\u2019t wait for that.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cIt was a full body experience and definitely shows a side of me that my mom hasn\u2019t seen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nDiscussing his own reaction to seeing the completed film, Jaafar said: \u201cGoing into it I tried my best to say, \u2018I\u2019m going to just try to watch without critiquing anything\u2019.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cAs soon as it came on, it was a completely different experience than what I thought it was going to be. It went by so fast. I was like, \u2018Wait, that\u2019s it?\u2019<\/p>\n

\n\u201cBut the second time I saw it was a completely different experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nHe added: \u201cI was able to understand what the story is and really allow myself to enjoy what\u2019s on the screen, rather than thinking of all the things we shot that aren\u2019t in there.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cBecause that was my problem the first time. I was like, \u2018Where\u2019s all that footage?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\nJaafar is the son of Jermaine Jackson, a member of The Jackson 5, and Alejandra Jackson. <\/p>\n

\nMichael is directed by Antoine Fuqua and features an ensemble cast including Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, and Kat Graham as Diana Ross, and is scheduled for release in cinemas on 24 April.<\/p>\n
