Melissa Gilbert<\/strong><\/a> reiterated her support for husband Timothy Busfield<\/strong><\/a> in a new TV interview nearly three months after his arrest.<\/p>\n

The Little House on the Prairie<\/em> alum, 61, sat down with George Stephanopoulos<\/strong> for a conversation that aired during the Monday, April 6, episode of Good Morning America<\/em><\/a>. When asked about prior allegations against her husband from 1994 and 2012, Gilbert was firm in her response.<\/p>\n

\u201cI need to make something really abundantly clear,\u201d she began. \u201cThese allegations have been out in the ether for a really long time. When Tim and I got together, the internet existed. I didn\u2019t go into my relationship with him blind. I am neither naive nor am I complicit. I talked to him about it, I asked him questions about it. I heard his side of the story \u2014 which no one has ever heard \u2014 which is the truth. And when the time is right, and that is not now, Tim will tell the truth of all of these past allegations when he needs to.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a teaser from the interview<\/a> shared on Thursday, April 2, Gilbert told Stephanopoulos, 65, that her life had been \u201chell\u201d since allegations about Busfield, 68, surfaced, calling the ordeal \u201cthe most traumatizing experience of our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tActor and director Timothy Busfield is facing charges of sexual abuse involving a minor after he was accused of misconduct with a child actor on the set of The Cleaning Lady. Busfield \u2014 who executive-produced 14 episodes of the Fox series and directed six, as well as a one-episode appearance as an immigration officer \u2014 [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cOur life as we knew it is done,\u201d she said in the clip. \u201cWe are grieving what we had \u2014 all of our plans, all of our dreams, all of our ideas, all of our projects. For Tim, it\u2019s done. He\u2019s canceled. Even if he\u2019s exonerated, he will always be that guy. [He\u2019s] the last person in the world who would hurt a child. And believe me, if I thought for a second that Tim Busfield hurt a child, he\u2019d have a lot more to worry about than prison.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gilbert continued to voice her support on Monday, declaring, \u201cI am 100 percent confident he will be exonerated.\u201d She acknowledged, however, that the pair \u201chave to be prepared for all scenarios.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve had a lot of ups and downs, we\u2019ve been through struggles, we\u2019ve had our own issues to deal with and we\u2019ve worked through everything,\u201d she said. \u201cHe is nothing if not completely honest with me. I trust him with my children\u2019s lives, with my grandchildren\u2019s lives, my nieces and nephews. He is an honorable, caring, generous human being.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked what \u201cjustice\u201d would look like for the couple, Gilbert got emotional. \u201cExoneration, an apology, free him from this cloud,\u201d she replied.<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed in January that an arrest warrant was issued for Busfield in New Mexico after he was accused of child sexual abuse by two twin boys on the set of The Cleaning Lady<\/em> when he directed the Fox drama. Days later, he turned himself in to law enforcement<\/a>, vehemently denying the allegations in a video obtained by TMZ at the time.<\/p>\n

Shortly after Busfield\u2019s arrest, Gilbert publicly defended her husband<\/a> of 12 years in a January statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring this period, her focus is on supporting and caring for their very large family as they navigate this moment,\u201d her rep told Us<\/em>. \u201cMelissa stands with and supports her husband and will address the public at an appropriate time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMelissa Gilbert and Timothy Busfield have been married since 2013 after each having longstanding careers in Hollywood. \u201cOur business in Los Angeles is very difficult because it\u2019s everywhere in that city [and] everybody\u2019s involved in it in some way,\u201d Gilbert, best known for starring as Laura Ingalls on The Little House on the Prairie, said [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Meanwhile, Busfield\u2019s attorney Larry Stein<\/strong> told Us<\/em> in a statement that his client was \u201cinnocent,\u201d<\/a> claiming that the accusers\u2019 mother made the allegations in an effort to \u201cget her revenge against Timothy\u201d after her son was fired from The Cleaning Lady<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Later in January, Gilbert wrote a letter asking a judge to keep Busfield \u201csafe\u201d<\/a> during his time behind bars. She praised him for being \u201cmy love, my rock, my partner in business and life\u201d and described him as having \u201cthe strongest moral compass of any human I have ever known.\u201d<\/p>\n
