Halle Bailey has spoken about channeling heartbreak into her music, revealing how deeply personal experiences shaped her debut solo album and helped her navigate a turbulent period in her life<\/p>\n
The singer, 26, released her debut album Love? Or something like it\u2026 in October, featuring tracks including Alone and Braveface, which explore themes of betrayal, resilience and self-reflection. <\/p>\n
Halle, also an actress who stars in You, Me and Tuscany, discussed the inspiration behind the record in an interview with People. <\/p>\n
The project follows a highly publicised split from rapper DDG \u2013 born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr, 28 \u2013 with whom Halle shares a two-year-old son, Halo. <\/p>\n
Their separation initially appeared amicable but later involved restraining orders amid allegations of domestic violence and a custody dispute, which was settled last October with both parties agreeing to co-parent.<\/p>\n
\nHalle said: \u201cIt was a lot of my diary entries about my experience through love the past few years.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nReferring to the album\u2019s themes, she added: \u201c(The project was from) coming out of your version of what you thought was love in the moment and looking back and asking yourself, \u2018Was that love?\u2019 Just the journey you go on as a young woman.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nReflecting on the aftermath of her split from DDG, Halle added: \u201cI\u2019m great. I\u2019m just grateful to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe continued: \u201cI was grateful that I got to put that out into the world. It makes me so happy to see people responding to those songs. It literally blows my mind when I can find some version of a creative outlet and have it impact people.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDiscussing her acting role, Halle said: \u201cI saw myself in her a lot, someone who gets it wrong sometimes, but still has the courage and the gumption to get back up again.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHalle also spoke about her sister, Chloe Bailey, describing her as a source of support in her personal life.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cChloe\u2019s really good at it. She\u2019ll be like, \u2018Go ahead. This is a good person!\u2019 I\u2019ve tried to match me, too, but, you know… yea, she\u2019s better at it than me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHalle rose to fame as part of Chloe x Halle before achieving solo success in music and film. <\/p>\n
\nShe gained global recognition starring in The Little Mermaid, earning praise for her vocals and performances, while building a growing career as a solo artist.<\/p>\n
