Donald Trump<\/strong><\/a> drew comparisons between himself and Jesus Christ while celebrating Easter in the White House. <\/p>\n On Wednesday (April 1), the 79-year-old president hosted a lunch to honor what is the most holy holiday in the Christian faith, the day that Jesus rose from the dead. <\/p>\n During an address<\/a> that lasted more than 40 minutes, Trump<\/strong> spoke about everything from his war in Iran and his recently paused ballroom project<\/a> to his claims that men are competing in women\u2019s sports. <\/p>\n While speaking about Holy Week, the seven days leading up to Easter, he reflected on Jesus\u2019 journey and spoke about two things that he has in common with the son of God. <\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Trump<\/strong> spoke about Palm Sunday, saying that Jesus \u201centered Jerusalem as crowds welcomed him with praise, honoring him as a king.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cThey call me king now<\/a>. Do you believe it? No kings. I\u2019m such a king, I can\u2019t get a ballroom approved. It\u2019s pretty amazing, right? I\u2019m a king,\u201d he said, shifting focus from the religious event to his own experience and recent No Kings protests. <\/p>\n He continued, adding, \u201cIf I was a king, we\u2019d be doing a lot more.\u201d<\/p>\n The president switched back to Jesus, saying, \u201cYet he had not come to take a throne, but to carry a cross, not only to reign but to save.\u201d<\/p>\n Speaking about Holy Thursday, Trump<\/strong> reflected on Judas\u2019 betrayal of Jesus, which ultimately led to his crucifixion and eventual rising, per the Christian faith. <\/p>\n Again, Trump<\/strong> related to Jesus, this time as someone who had also been betrayed. <\/p>\n \u201cWe know the feeling. Many of the people in this room know the feeling. Many of the people went through hell,\u201d he said, seemingly alluding to the crimes he has been accused of, which he has previously described as being part of a \u201cwitch hunt.\u201d<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
