Howie Mandel<\/strong><\/a> has admitted that he has mixed feelings about apologizing to Kelly Ripa<\/strong> after their awkward interview<\/a> on Live with Kelly and Mark<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf somebody is offended [or] if somebody feels that I did wrong, then I apologize,\u201d Mandel said on the Tuesday, March 31, episode of the \u201cHot Mics with Billy Bush\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t believe in apologizing but, as I said in my post, which I kinda regret making the post, I don\u2019t think you should apologize for a joke.\u201d<\/p>\n

The drama started on March 23 while Mandel was being interviewed by Ripa, 55, and her husband, Mark Consuelos<\/strong>, on Live<\/em>. Ripa pointed out that Mandel recently celebrated his 70th birthday, before joking that his age \u201cdoesn\u2019t make any sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Consuelos interjected that Mandel looked \u201cgreat,\u201d the comedian shot back, \u201cI [do] look great. That doesn\u2019t mean anything to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The America\u2019s Got Talent<\/em> judge complained that he doesn\u2019t like people commenting on his age because it always comes as \u201ca caveat.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cB\u200b\u200because you tell someone you\u2019re 70 and they go, \u2018You look great,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Ripa tried to clarify that she wasn\u2019t trying to say Mandel looked \u201cgreat for 70,\u201d before he interrupted again to declare, \u201cIt\u2019s like saying you\u2019re smart for a stupid person. \u2018Oh, you look smart! You seem smart!\u2019 I don\u2019t look good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mandel added later in the conversation, \u201cWell, actually, before we go out, there\u2019s, like, a mirror back there. \u2026 Honestly, now, I\u2019ll be serious for a minute: I\u2019m gorgeous. I am. I am.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re a thing of beauty,\u201d Ripa quipped.<\/p>\n

The awkward interview clip quickly went viral, leading to Mandel making a public apology<\/a> for the awkward moment a few days later.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been debating for 48 hours whether I should make this post or not, and I don\u2019t know if I\u2019m doing the right thing,\u201d he said via Instagram on Saturday, March 28. \u201cPhilosophically, I don\u2019t believe that somebody who\u2019s a comedian needs to apologize for a joke. It is a joke, it is meant as a joke, and it\u2019s not meant to offend.\u201d<\/p>\n
