Sweden-based caller ID app Truecaller said Tuesday that it has hit the milestone of 500 million monthly active users on its platform. The company said that it also crossed the mark of 150 million users outside India, its biggest market with over 350 million monthly users.<\/p>\n
The company said that it added 50 million users in 2025, and its user base has doubled in the past five years. In April 2025, Truecaller said it had more than 450 million users<\/a>. The company also noted that more than 4 million people subscribe to its paid plans.<\/p>\n \u201cMore and more people need help navigating spam, scams, and unwanted communication every day,\u201d Truecaller CEO Rishit Jhunjhunwala said in a statement. \u201cReaching 500 million users shows the scale of that need, and the trust people place in Truecaller to help make communication safer.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cOur commitment remains focused on continuously strengthening Truecaller with smarter technology and new capabilities that protect users before, during, and after every call or message. Ultimately, our aim is to build a safer, more trusted communication ecosystem for everyone. We now have our sights set on the next milestone: 1 billion users,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n Truecaller has been trying to expand its services beyond caller ID in the last few years. The company recently launched a feature that would allow one person to become an admin and end calls on behalf of users of their family<\/a> group to avoid getting scammed. The company has also been experimenting with using AI to screen and answer calls<\/a>.<\/p>\n Truecaller told TechCrunch last month<\/a> it is also testing using AI to automatically monitor disconnected calls when certain words associated with scams are detected, such as \u201cdigital arrest\u201d \u2014 a tactic in which perpetrators impersonate law enforcement officers to extract information or money from call recipients.<\/p>\n In India, the company is facing challenges from the country\u2019s\u00a0Caller Name Presentation<\/a>\u00a0(CNAP) system, which displays the name of the caller as registered with their phone networks.<\/p>\n Techcrunch event<\/p>\n
