Max Verstappen<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about his future in Formula 1 and it sounds like he\u2019s seriously considering walking away.<\/p>\n Following his eighth-place finish at the Japanese Grand Prix<\/strong><\/em>, the 28-year-old Red Bull driver admitted he\u2019s questioning his long-term commitment to the sport amid major rule changes this season.<\/p>\n When asked by BBC Sport<\/a> if he was thinking of leaving F1 at the end of the year, he said, \u201cThat\u2019s what I\u2019m saying. I\u2019m thinking about everything inside this paddock. Privately I\u2019m very happy. You also wait for 24 races. This time it\u2019s 22. But normally 24. And then you just think about is it worth it? Or do I enjoy being more at home with my family? Seeing my friends more when you\u2019re not enjoying your sport?\u201d<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Max<\/strong> welcomed daughter Lily<\/strong> with girlfriend Kelly Piquet<\/a><\/strong> last April.<\/p>\n He clarified that his frustration had nothing to do with Red Bull\u2019s start-of-season issues and more so with the big regulation changes<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI can easily accept to be in P7 or P8 where I am,\u201d he said. \u201cBecause I also know that you can\u2019t be dominating or be first or second or whatever, fighting for a podium every time. I\u2019m very realistic in that and I\u2019ve been there before. I\u2019ve not only been winning in F1.\u201d<\/p>\n He went on to say, \u201cBut at the same time when you are in P7 or P8 and you are not enjoying the whole formula behind it, it doesn\u2019t feel natural to a racing driver.\u201d<\/p>\n Max<\/strong> called the current style \u201canti driving,\u201d adding, \u201cThen at one point, yeah, it\u2019s just not what I want to do.\u201d<\/p>\n Still, he insists he has not checked out.<\/p>\n \u201cI see it like this: You hear it from a lot of sports people when you speak to them about how are you successful. It all starts with actually enjoying what you\u2019re doing before you can actually commit to it 100%,\u201d he said. \u201cNow I think I\u2019m committing 100% and I\u2019m still trying, but the way that I am telling myself to give it 100% I think is not very healthy at the moment because I am not enjoying what I\u2019m doing.\u201d<\/p>\n He added, \u201cAnd now people can easily say, \u2018Yeah, well, you\u2019ve won so many championships and races and now just because the car is not good you are complaining.\u2019 Maybe you can see it like that, but I see it different.\u201d<\/p>\n While he is exploring other passions like GT3 racing, Max<\/strong> made it clear he is not looking for sympathy.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not like if I would stop here that I\u2019m not going to do anything. I\u2019m always going to have fun. And also I will have fun in a lot of other things in my life,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cBut it\u2019s a bit sad to be honest that we\u2019re even talking about this. It is what it is. You don\u2019t need to feel sorry for me.
