The actor said: \u201c(Bill) will call me out of the blue and invite me to something or other that I\u2019m probably not able to do. I tell him, \u2018You call me out of the blue. But when I call you, you never return my call!\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ernie also recalled a moment from the filming of Ghostbusters, when he nearly left without taking a keepsake from the production. <\/p>\n
\nHe said Harold Ramis, who died aged 69, encouraged him to take his costume. <\/p>\n
\nErnie said: \u201cI didn\u2019t think we\u2019d be allowed to take (the iconic costume.) <\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd Harold Ramis said, \u2018Ernie. We\u2019re the Ghostbusters. Take the jumpsuit!\u2019 So, I have my jumpsuit.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nErnie\u2019s comments come as he continues to work across film and television, most recently starring alongside Donnie Wahlberg in the CBS series Boston Blue, a spin-off of Blue Bloods. <\/p>\n
\nThe original show, which also starred Tom Selleck, aired from 2010 to 2024 and followed a family involved in law enforcement. <\/p>\n
\nErnie plays Reverend Peters in the spin-off, which follows Donnie\u2019s character relocating to Boston and forming new relationships.<\/p>\n
\nErnie said he remains connected to Dan through family ties, noting that his wife, Linda Kingsberg, is friends with Dan\u2019s wife, Donna Dixon. <\/p>\n
\nHe added discussions about future plans with Bill have taken place, including the possibility of travelling together.<\/p>\n
\nErnie also spoke about his current work on Boston Blue. <\/p>\n
\nHe said the episode Beautiful Broken Things offered insight into his character. <\/p>\n
\nErnie added it was \u201cvery revealing for me, character-wise\u201d and \u201cgreat to be able to play\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nErnie said he would welcome the chance to work with Tom. <\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cI would love to have a chance to work with Tom, just to meet him. Because I\u2019ve been out here acting for over 60 years and he\u2019s been around about all that time as well. I\u2019m still hoping he might visit (Boston Blue.)\u201d<\/p>\n
