Tiger Woods<\/a> has been charged with DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test after being involved in a rollover car crash.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n

The 50-year-old golf legend was involved in the incident in Jupiter Island, Florida, on Friday (27.03.26) afternoon, and Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek subsequently confirmed the charges at a press conference.<\/p>\n
Budensiek alleged that Woods was driving his Land Rover at high speed behind a pickup truck when he clipped the back of a trailer, causing his vehicle to roll over onto the driver’s side door and slide down the road. Nobody was injured in the incident.<\/p>\n
Woods was able to climb out of the vehicle, but Budensiek alleged that the sports star appeared “lethargic” and showed “signs of impairment” before being placed under arrest and taken to the Martin County Jail.<\/p>\n
Woods did not consume alcohol \u2014 blowing “triple zeroes” on a breathalyser test \u2014 but allegedly refused a urinalysis. Authorities believe he was “not impaired by alcohol but possibly by medication or another substance.”<\/p>\n
\nBudensiek said: “We know we arrested a high-profile figure, but the law applies the same to everyone.”<\/p>\n
\nThe crash is the second rollover car accident Woods has been involved in, having previously been seriously injured in February 2021 when his vehicle struck a sign and travelled several hundred feet from the centre divider before landing by the roadside.<\/p>\n
\nWoods underwent emergency surgery following that incident, but was not charged in connection with the crash.<\/p>\n
\nThe latest incident is not Woods’ first brush with the law \u2014 in 2017, he was involved in a crash that led to him pleading guilty to reckless driving.<\/p>\n
\nThe sheriff confirmed that Woods – who is one of the highest-earning athletes of all time – would not receive preferential treatment in custody, but would not be placed in the general prison population, either.<\/p>\n
