Tiger Woods has been involved in a car accident<\/p>\n
The 50-year-old golf legend was involved in the incident in Jupiter Island, Florida, on Friday (27.03.26) afternoon.<\/p>\n
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office told ABC News that Woods crashed shortly after 2pm local time near 281 Beach Road, with a photo of the scene showing a vehicle tipped over on its side.<\/p>\n
According to TMZ Sports, an eyewitness didn’t see any serious injuries and the 15-time Major winner appeared to be okay following the incident.<\/p>\n
The crash is the second rollover car accident Woods has been involved in, having previously been seriously injured in February 2021. <\/p>\n
\nThe sports star was injured when his vehicle struck a sign and travelled several hundred feet from the centre divider before landing by the roadside.<\/p>\n
\nWoods was pulled from the wreck by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics and subsequently taken to hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.<\/p>\n
\nDr Anish Mahajan, the chief medical officer at Harbor-UCLA, said in a statement at the time: “On behalf of our staff, it was an honour to provide orthopedic care and trauma care to one of our generation’s greatest athletes.<\/p>\n
\n“Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is a teaching hospital and one of only five level one trauma centres in Los Angeles County.”<\/p>\n
\nWoods sustained serious leg injuries in the crash, which saw his SUV veer across two lanes.<\/p>\n
\nThe sporting icon needed to be cut from his vehicle, after it had flipped over several times during the accident.<\/p>\n
\nShortly after undergoing surgery, a spokesperson for Woods confirmed the golf legend was “awake, responsive and recovering”.<\/p>\n
\nIn a statement on social media, the spokesperson said: “He is currently awake, responsive, and recovering in his hospital room.<\/p>\n
\n“Thank you to the wonderful doctors and hospital staff at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and the Fire Department.<\/p>\n
\n“Your support and assistance has been outstanding.”<\/p>\n
\nWoods – who is among the highest-earning athletes of all time – did not return home to Florida until mid-March 2021 following his recovery.<\/p>\n
