Justin Hartley<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s Tracker<\/em><\/a> promoted a cast member after numerous exits ahead of season 3.<\/p>\n It was confirmed that Chris Lee,<\/strong> who plays Randy<\/a>, is now a series regular, according to Deadline. He first joined the show in season 2 as Bobby\u2019s (Eric Graise<\/strong>) cousin before returning in a larger capacity.<\/p>\n CBS found success with Tracker<\/em> immediately after it premiered in February 2024 to record-breaking ratings. Viewers have since tuned in week after week to see fictional survivalist Colter (Hartley) travel the country to help solve various missing persons cases.<\/p>\n As Colter has gotten help, the ensemble cast has grown<\/a> with their respective characters, such as handlers Teddi (Robin Weigert<\/strong>) and Velma, hacker Bobby and attorney Reenie. After joining Tracker<\/em> in season 1, Weigert\u2019s character was written off in the premiere with her wife, Velma, admitting that they needed some distance. Velma then started working with Reenie and Teddi wasn\u2019t discussed again in season 2.<\/p>\n \u201c[Teddi] is going to be there for a while. She is helping her mom get sorted. I was getting in the way you might say and it really wasn\u2019t good,\u201d Velma said at the beginning of season 2. \u201cSo I came back. Don\u2019t you worry because I am keeping busy.\u201d<\/p>\n The concerns about the show\u2019s main characters kept coming when Graise was noticeably absent from six episodes. His cousin Randy was brought in to help Colter before Bobby returned, which caused backlash from viewers who grew used to seeing Graise on their screen.<\/p>\n News later broke that Graise and McEnany wouldn\u2019t be<\/a> coming back \u2014 at least for now.<\/p>\n \u201cI do think it\u2019s evolving. If I can\u2019t evolve those characters \u2014 Randy or Reenie or Bobby \u2014 they\u2019re not just people that just pick up the phone and go, \u2018OK, here is the answer.\u2019 That\u2019s when the show is phoning it in,\u201d executive producer Elwood Reid<\/strong> exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> in May 2025. \u201cThe challenge is when you got to learn about them, which I thought was interesting. That\u2019s the challenge of the show is not having it fall into a formula.\u201d<\/p>\n Reid noted that they didn\u2019t want Tracker<\/em><\/a> to \u201cfall into complacency.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe only rule I really have of the show is each week Colter is going to come to a new place and there\u2019s going to be a new case. How he gets those answers and what he uses on the team, that\u2019s all something that\u2019s up for grabs,\u201d Reid teased. \u201cMeeting these [local] weird characters is something we\u2019re going to try to do more of as the season goes on. Just Colter coming in and interacting with other characters. That\u2019s fun to see Justin flex those muscles with really good guest cast members.\u201d<\/p>\n Ahead of season 3, Reid defended the decision to shake up season 3.<\/p>\n \u201cJustin has to carry so much of the show. So I don\u2019t want the other characters that are in the show to just be phone-a-friend where whenever he\u2019s in trouble, he just picks up the phone. The challenge in season 3 has been how do we build actual good story out of [it],\u201d Reid teased.<\/p>\n Reid pointed out that Reenie and Randy<\/a> are still in the picture.<\/p>\n
