Donald Trump<\/strong><\/a> continues to insist that Iran is lying about engaging in talks to end the war he started in the Middle East. Now, the president is threatening to escalate things further. <\/p>\n Early Thursday morning (March 26), the 79-year-old Republican took to Truth Social<\/a> to slam the alleged Iranian negotiators that he says the United States is speaking to, calling them \u201cvery different and \u2018strange.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Trump <\/strong>continued, alleging that Iranian leaders were \u201c\u2018begging\u2019 us to make a deal,\u201d adding that it\u2019s what they \u201cshould be doing since they have been militarily obliterated, with zero chance of a comeback.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd yet they publicly state that they are only \u2018looking at our proposal.\u2019 WRONG!!!\u201d he raged. \u201cThey better get serious soon, before it is too late, because once that happens, there is NO TURNING BACK, and it won\u2019t be pretty!\u201d<\/p>\n His latest verbal attack on the country\u2019s leaders comes just a few days after Trump <\/strong>announced a temporary pause<\/a> on attacks he threatened level against Iran\u2019s power infrastructure. <\/p>\n At the time, he said that Iran had been engaged in \u201cvery good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East.\u201d<\/p>\n He further described the conversations as being \u201cin depth, detailed and constructive.\u201d <\/p>\n However, Iran has insisted that these talks are not taking place. Iran\u2019s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi<\/strong> appeared on state TV this week to say that the government \u201c[does] not plan on any negotiations,\u201d per the Associated Press<\/a>. <\/p>\n While attending a fundraiser on Wednesday (March 25), Trump<\/strong> again insisted that the negotiations are happening. This time he proposed a reason that the negotiators are allegedly lying, saying, \u201cThey are negotiating, by the way, and they want to make a deal so badly, but they\u2019re afraid to say it because they figure they\u2019ll be killed by their own people,\u201d per AP.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re also afraid they\u2019ll be killed by us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Trump<\/strong> launched the war on February 28 and has since issued confusing and competing claims<\/a> about when he intends to end it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
